Nokia 5.3 (SIM Free / UK) Overview
Go big, go beyond - Nokia 5.3
When viewing images, watching movies or playing games it is great to have a large and clear display. The Nokia 5.3 has just this with its impressive 6.55”, but it also benefits from having a quad-camera system for capturing any kind of subject and up to 2 days of battery life.
All in a smartphone that conveniently fits in your pocket, and is easy to hold.
The first thing you notice about the Nokia 5.3 is its stunning 6.55-inch display. With its HD+ resolution (720 x1600) 20:9 aspect ratio you can enjoy all your favourite media content, including photos, movies and the latest games. Enjoy creating interesting photos with the Quad camera system featuring a combination of a 13MP main camera, 5MP ultra-wide, 2MP depth and 2MP macro sensors. With powerful AI imaging, so that no matter your skill level, you can also capture a great looking photo any time of the day.
With our smartphones being constantly with us, we like to think they can deal with our daily life. An elegant 2.5D glass from incorporating Gorilla Glass 3 and scratch-resistant composite back give the Nokia 5.3 extra durability. And the striking Nordic-inspired colours give the phone a standout look you can enjoy.

I am quite happy with my Xiaomi Mi A3, but always wanted a Nokia 'phone, this is for a back-up device, in case anything happens to my A3 or I don't want to take it anywhere it could get nicked/lost/damaged.
The Nokia 5.3 looks great in Cyan, the screen is large enough that my old eyes have no problems in viewing.
I am also impressed with the camera, it does take really good photos. However, I have installed GCam on the 'phone, and it kicks it up to another level - really impressive photos.
I also like the ability to be able to have dual sim cards PLUS a MicroSD card installed at the same time.
One possible irritation may be the start up of the 'phone, it plays the Nokia boot jingle, and there's no way to disable it. That could be embarrassing if you're in a location where you're not supposed to have a 'phone switched on!
The camera is good but you need a very steady hand, I get a lot of slightly distorted pics as my hands are not that steady. I deleted some pre-installed apps like YouTube and some Google ones as I don't use them.
Be aware when starting the phone when new that you don't just tick 'agree' to the Google start up functions as you will allow Google to pretty much to spy on and track everything you do with the phone. It's worthwhile (and not very complicated) to spend an extra 2 minutes to customise your permissions.
I also downloaded DuckDuckGo app which offers private browsing and use it as the default browser rather than using the pre-installed ones.
Overall the start up took 2 hours as uploading the newest update took a very long time. I also didn't manage to transfer my contacts and music from my iPhone or iCloud but it's probably easier from android phone to android phone.
Overall, I am pleased with the phone and it will do me just fine for as long as the updates come through (for 2 years), I was getting fed up with spending a lot of money on Iphones which are still fully functionable but the updates stop and force you to buy a new phone every 3 years anyway. From now on it's Nokia budget phones for me and I may spend the money I saved on a long weekend away
The sound is okay and the phone is quite nippy when playing games.
The screen is not a high resolution screen but it is adequate for what I want it for.
The 64GB storage if I get near to filling it I would just add a micro SD card.
I have not tried it out yet using 2 sim cards but I am hopeful that I would be able to have both active at the same time, if I cannot I will update the review later to state this.
