Size and practicality aside, the wireless charging is quite awesome. Gone are the days of fussing with your silly iPhone and the dock connector (no matter how many times they changed it over the years). You simply place your phone on the pillow and let Nokia handle the charging. I personally look forward to the day when they can write the wireless syncing process into this charger so I can get rid of my rats nest of USB cables.
The pillow itself has little guide marks to help you place your phone directly over the charging pad, but they aren't really necessary. Place your sizable Nokia 920 on the pillow and you're hard pressed to miss the mark.
I can't attest to the speed of the charging process - as the battery on my 920 is a champ and doesn't seem to ever die since it is so easy to top it up whenever I set it down on the pillow. Out of the five phones I have and use regularly, I find my Nokia 920 with the wireless charging pillow to be my go to device now - even over my beloved 808 PureView. Unfortunately for the other devices, having battery life trumps all else when it comes down to it. This nifty device, the Fatboy charging pillow, helps my 920 stay fully juiced up all the time, without cables to fuss with.
The fatboy sleeve s just a simple "bag" with beans around the margins to give it a bit of a plushy effect, which lets you slide the wireless charging plate right in. The material is some sort of nylon/cloth which is light and pretty stain resistant, and very easy to clean (just add some water and dab it!); however the sleeve does add a lot of bulk and size to the charging plate which is actually quite small and thin.
The Charging plate itself is pretty awesome, and gets the job done; it simply charges your phone up without having to plug in any cables, at first this might seem like a gimmick but it does quickly become part of your routine life style and you start to realize how helpful it is. For example when I get a message in the middle of the night I can grab the phone without worrying about tugging the charger out of the phone (and damaging the Micro USB port) or dislodging it from the power outlet and having to replug it in the middle of the night; you simply grab the phone, silently curse it for waking you up in the middle of the night and throw it back on to the pillow.
The charging plate doesn't seem to take much longer to charge up my Lumia 920 then it does through the Micro USB charger, and in fact if you connect the phone to the plug then put it on the fatboy pillow it will charge wirelessly rather than through the micro USB port.Read more ›
I have had 3 Qi chargers and 2 phones that are Qi charging capable. I had a Galaxy s4 with an off brand Qi charging module, and currently I have a Galaxy Note 4 with the official Samsung Qi charging back cover. My first Qi charger was an off brand pad that had a horrible blue light and terrible intermittent charging issues. I scrapped that. I then got a puck style LG Qi charger which worked great but was a bit small and didn’t have a big ‘sweet spot’ to put your phone. This Nokia charger performed, but was a bit of a letdown.
Part of my disappointment was my fault, I will admit. This charger, while big, doesn’t have as large a ‘sweet spot’ as I thought it would. When placing my phone on it in the dark, it takes a bit of shifting before I find an area of the charger that continuously charges it without toggling back and forth between charging/not charging. This charger is/was made for the phones of its time (as it has been out a while), meaning a big phone like mine isn’t ideal.
The biggest gripe I have is price. I bought mine used because I couldn’t stomach what they are charging for this guy. It is $20-$30 too much. It doesn’t look as good as it does in pictures and the material isn’t soft and plush as I thought. This charger is way too overpriced, which is why I can’t recommend. You can find a name brand Qi charger for half the price.Read more ›

This thing is great- you just can't charge with the case on.Published 4 months ago by DrunkenOldMan
Works great and is so convenient once you have one you will not want to be with out it. It is larger then I expected it to be but that is not a problem. Read morePublished 4 months ago by Crabber
Terrific charger. I tried a one coil charger and it was difficult to find the sweet spot to activate charging. Placement is not critical and it charges quickly. Read morePublished 6 months ago by Two Wheels
charges much better when it's separated from the cushion.. as fast as my original Samsung charging pad at a fraction of the cost!Published 7 months ago by Annie
Excellent, especially after discarding the dubious pillow. Direct contact with the phone speeds the charging process and dissipates heat. Read morePublished 7 months ago by NYC Oracle
It works great and does everything I hoped it would. Just lay my phone on it and it is all charged up in the morning.Published 8 months ago by JRM71
