What is an unlocked phone?
An unlocked phone is a device that is not bound to any carrier or plan. It allows you to choose your phone first and your carrier second. Upon selecting a plan, simply insert the carrier's SIM card into the phone and you're ready to go. If you decide you want to change carriers down the road or want to take an international trip, it's as simple as replacing your existing SIM card with a new SIM and activating your new plan.
What are the benefits of an unlocked phone?
Freedom: Choose the carrier with the best service or price. If you find a better deal later, you have the ability to change to a different carrier.
Travel: Take your phone internationally and use the carrier of your choice. It's as easy as inserting an active SIM card.
Selection: Choose the phone with the features you want, whether or not your carrier sells it, and get more service options without a contract.
How do I set up my unlocked phone?
The first thing you’ll need is a SIM card for your desired carrier. When activated, the SIM card will let your phone connect to your carrier’s network. If you decide to upgrade to a newer unlocked phone in the future, you can easily remove the SIM card from your old phone and put it in your new phone—just make sure you get the right size of SIM card (nano, micro, or standard) for your phone. If you want to use your phone while traveling internationally, you can easily buy a SIM card for a carrier that operates where you’re traveling. As long as it’s activated, you can just swap SIM cards when you arrive at your destination.
With its powerful quad-core processor and Windows operating system, the Lumia 635 keeps up with your day-to-day activities.

But (and this will frighten you), this phone did not come factory reset. It was synced to a user's email, revealing their banking information, name, LinkedIn job searches, and so on. Very scary. The Internet can be a dangerous place when your personal information is available this easy.
Note to Amazon (who fulfilled the order), and the seller: You need to be very careful when selling Window's devices that have not been factory reset -- or any device for that matter. Had we been different people, we could have ruined this poor person's life all because of your negligence.
The handset arrived bubble-wrapped in a generic box with a mini USB charging cable and a Samsung plug adapter. All worked fine and were in excellent condition. The handset looks like a new out-of-the-box piece with no blemishes and functions perfectly.
The Lumia 635 looks better in person than in pictures with its Gorilla Glass face and black shell. It has no physical buttons, so the entire face is just the glass and the edge of the rear shell. Sitting on my desk, it looks like a fine piece of tinted glass, uniformly dark. Even the NOKIA logo is barely visible. It attracts fingerprints easily, but they wipe off just as easily. Really nice looking. It's larger than an iPhone 5S but probably a tiny bit smaller than an iPhone 6.
I really like the Windows Phone UI. It's easily and broadly customizable and flows well. I really like how I can add tiles not just to programs, but to specific pages. I have four MSN Weather tiles set at the top of my feed for four different cities, so when I open the main screen, I can see the current temperature for each city immediately.
There are negatives. Screen resolution and the processor are mid-tier quality at best. There are far better camera phones out there. My car radio won't recognize it and play music when plugged into the USB port. App support is terrible, of course, but Facebook and Twitter are on board. I'm using the handset as a secondary test phone at work, so that's all fine, but this phone could never be my daily driver.
If your data usage is limited to Facebook, Twitter, and web browsing, this is a fine handset available at a tremendous value compared to Android and Apple products. And you'll have something that stands out over your friends' handsets.
Disclaimer: I have dropped it a few times. It still works dependably and I haven't seen any mechanical errors yet.
The windows phone operating system is great. It compliments my windows tablet very well and has a cozy design. The features are easy to find and there's rarely endless and confusing sub-menus like iphones.
Minor complaints: It doesn't seem to dim enough at night when I'm using it in the dark or brighten enough on the sunniest southern summer days. The screen came with a very small area that was scratched and the screen seems to scratch somewhat easily, but is still very easy to view. I'll probably buy Nokia phones from now on
The Nokia Lumina is compact to safely carry in his pocket and fast enough for him not to miss his note III so much. He says it is not nearly as fast but it's fast enough. It is half the size and inexpensive enough for him to replace as regularly. He did cut the amount of apps he installs on his phone to optimize speed. He still continues to lose or drop his phone. Now if I could just find a way to secure his phone to his pocket...maybe a pocket watch chain.
It is a gift so I will come back with more details when available.
So far after few weeks is very good product for the price paid .
