Ok so this is a trilogy so I'm going to give individual tidbits about each.
Book 1 - Yes there's a cliffhanger, and you're gonna want to continue the story but that's where stuff becomes disturbing... This book is entirely from Leah's 3rd person POV. It's focus is on the taboo relationship between Leah & her best friends Dad (Mr. Nolan), this book is seriously steamy... Erotica at its finest. This author can definitely write the steam!!
Book 2 - again you obviously have a cliffhanger. The story is told from the alternating 3rd person POV's of Leah & Erica. Now we get a bit more of a dark and disturbing mystery... There are a couple steamy moments but this is nothing like book 1. It doesn't really focus on Leah's relationship with Rob (Mr. Nolan), its more about her struggles and the crap she's going through away from everyone else (because she's literally kept from everyone who matters to her). She does make some new friendships and bonds with girls in a similar state as her (she is unwed and pregnant, but only because her mother is a Hugh COW). With more of a focus on Erica we also see her character go through her own disturbing events (FYI if you have issues reading a book with rape this is NOT the book for you). I have to say there were moments reading this that I was really unclear on Erica's feelings, she seemed almost brainwashed at one point... but then it seemed like it was her eagerness to get a juicy story that lead her down a seriously messed up path. By book 3 she seems more clear headed.
Book 3 - No cliffhanger the book wraps up with an HEA. This book is also told from the alternating 3rd person POV of Leah & Erica. Erica finally seems to fall for an obtainable sweet, funny, nice guy his name is Clay and I loved him, I'm thrilled with their HEA. Leah & Rob are reunited and guess what he's NOT her father, which I new from the start, and they work to get their baby back from an evil baby stealing Psycho of a social worker! We also get more disturbing twists and turns and at one point I thought I might not be able to handle any more crap being unloaded onto these people. Then snap everything works out. That said I really needed more retribution for what "the bad guys" put these people through, but I understand the ending.
Ok so these books absolutely wrecked me they made me wand to gouge out my eyes and bang my head against the wall... I was seriously angry reading through most of this. But I had to finish, so how do you rate and recommend a book that affected you that deeply but you were deeply disturbed by it also? I can't, so I'll give 3 stars because its in the middle and warn you to read the reviews and understand this is dark before you take the plunge!
This book starts out as an erotic novel of f/f and F/m. Next thing we know were into incest, corruption in the Catholic church, angst, and possibly more twist and turns then a mind can imagine when starting book one.
I read the books after the first to find out if they got their HEA. In the second book there is no love story just more drama and flops back and forth between Leah/Erica as they are both forming new bonds and more confusion with the things going on in their lives. Again ends in cliffhanger.
In book three where we think it's going to be wrapping up everything, it's a lot of retelling things of book one and two that I found frankly useless. After a while book (2) names, places, and character retelling got annoying. This book (3) is probably 100 pages to drawn out.
I debated on stars, but settled on 3 only because the author was bold enough to write a story of all the corruption in the Catholic church, which I am sure she took as one back lash for, it's original and twisted. Some editing error. Piece is what you do with pie, peace is what Leah wanted. Again same with bear and bare.
