Editorial Reviews

Review

William Sewell has now channeled his own experience into a unique outlet - a razor sharp, harrowing, and intelligence-steeped page-turner called Nonofficial Asset...a spy novel akin to James Bond. - Dublin Courier Herald

"Once I picked it up I couldn't put it down.  You've gotta read this book." - Pilar Archila, Solid Gold, WDIG TV35

"An engrossing international thriller that will keep you turning pages long, long into the night." -Bentley Morriss, Holloway House Publishing

From the Author

One day after I told my wife, a fellow intelligence contractor, as much as I was allowed to about some of my work experiences, she said, "You know, that's not normal. You should write some of that down." And so Peyton Stone was born. You see, I can't write much of it down but, as a fictional character, Peyton Stone can relive many of my overseas adventures.

In Nonofficial Asset, Peyton and his CIA connection, set out to solve a murder and end up chasing a stolen nuclear weapon across Asia and the Middle East. All of the scenes are completely accurate, at least as best I remember them, except for one house which, in the story, I moved from Damascus to Bushehr. You'll have to read the book to understand that. All of the technology in the story is also real and, as amazing as some of it is, doesn't push the capabilities that the US actually has.

So keep your arms and legs inside the Humvee at all times, fasten your seat belt, sit back and enjoy the ride.

Nonofficial Asset is an entertaining thriller that is also intelligently written, chuck full of details / subtleties, and surprisingly thoughtful in areas, all from a first-time author. Often when I read a great thriller, I feel as if I'm in the hands of an experienced author who has done thorough research. Not with this book, I feel as if this is the author's life. In fact, I'm feeling a little paranoid that those of us who've read this book now know too much and will soon be the subject of a little "cleanup in aisle 3"...

I love the spy (and nonoffical spy) genre. This yarn is believable and relavant to todays policital climate. Bill (William) really nailed it for keeping me ready to turn the next page. Great job Bill! As a former naval acoutic intelligence specialist I loved the submarine segments. There is a minor correction to the Kilo propulsion but I can't revel it. :)

I find myself looking over my shoulder as I write this. This whirlwind experience has left me a bit shaken. I have taken a trip with Mr. Sewell to some of the most dangerous, war torn parts of the world and have been privy to some incredibly frightening government secrets.
You see, Mr. Sewell has lived much of this story. A veteran clandestine contractor, he has applied his intelligence experience behind-enemy-lines. Many of these scenarios are real, along with all the government agencies, military staff and mind blowing technology

His tautly written, thrill-a-minute book takes you on the roller coaster journey of a lifetime. You'll infiltrate and exfiltrate in and out of Islamabad, Iran, Shanghai, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan and Langley. The story is quick moving and danger lurks around every corner. The incredible detail and vivid descriptions of these locations and circumstances make everything seem a little too real.
Peyton Stone is spy, one of the best. He works for the CIA, but under the radar. They call him a nonofficial asset. He handles operations that may become so ugly that the government needs complete deniability.
He finds that there is a high price to pay when his past comes back to haunt him. He is barely over the shock of the murder of his best friend, when he finds his own life in danger.
Without any choice in the matter, Peyton is in the middle of a deadly covert operation. It's the kind of scenario that nightmares are made of...a stolen nuclear weapon, a fanatical, rogue Iranian admiral and a plan to rule the world.

Will Peyton be able to stop this ungodly chain of events? He's good, but...

A great read from a new author, this thriller has well-drawn characters and a timely, riveting plot. The author's knowledge of the scenarios and details lends depth and chilling plausibility to the fast-paced storyline. I highly recommend the book and anticipate future offerings from this first-time novelist.

This book was great. It was filled with non stop action and very scary because things like this could be going on right now in the world. I could not put it down and would highly recommend it to anyone who likes Vince Flynn, Brad Thor, or Ben Coes. I can hardly wait until the next one. Peyton Stone is right up there with Mitch Rapp.
