I am a computer scientist, and I have been interested in learning to recognize non-verbal cues; my ability to do so has improved by reading Dr. Ekman's work. But the biggest lesson I gained from this book is this: If one has a passion for exploring something--like Dr. Ekman has for studying emotions--that person can overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles in life as Dr. Ekman has done.

Extraordinary book! I thought it would be more like an autobiography, but it is really a very insightful book. I recommend it!

Dr. Ekman's work has helped so many individuals -- this book is a look at the man behind the work. If you are interested in how research is done and the ins and outs of research this book is fascinating. I'm now an even bigger Ekman fan!

Since I saw the Lie to me TV show, I became interested in micro expressions. This book is a auto-biography of Paul Ekman who is one of the main researchers in this field. The book describes the steps and the events that triggered him in doing his discoveries and how he later became a good collaborator with the Dalai Lama and how that changed his life. It doesn't go into great length into the science of the micro expressions, but I found it interesting to read and learn how micros came to be.

Mainly an autobiography.
The book was very easy to read, but proved to be an autobiography of the author. It did not actually speak of how to read the face, but showed the incredible amount of research that went into his work.

What an inspiration and educational joy to read. All people should be introduced to the writings of Mr Ekman. Understanding emotion could change the world.

Fascinating autobiography of Paul Ekman. Some interesting extra info on his subjects which are not in his other books on Micro and other emotions . I find all studies on Body/facial language very interesting and this book covers the background to a lot of his research.
Excellent book Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars de très bonnes observations et analyses
Reviewed in France on March 8, 2017

3.0 out of 5 stars La vie de paul ekman
Reviewed in France on January 16, 2017
