I work for a cell phone company and have been quite happy using the Noosy cutter to trim standard sized SIMs down so they fit in phones requiring the smaller micro SIM. Every one I've trimmed for my phones or my colleagues' phones has worked well. However, I've learned that not every standard sized SIM can be safely trimmed and you need to make this determination *BEFORE* you trim your SIM card with the cutter. The key is to examine the size of the gold metal contact area on your standard SIM. You must make certain that the act of trimming the SIM down does *not* cut into the gold area on the SIM card. If you cut into the metal contact area there's a good chance your SIM will not work and I wouldn't advise using the cutter. Here's what I do: put the SIM card in the cutter and look through the opening in the bottom of the cutter. If you can see a thin margin of plastic all the way around the gold contact area then you can proceed. If the edge of the gold contact area touches the edge of the cutter opening, or worse yet if the gold contact area extends beyond the opening in the bottom of the cutter, then stop and don't try trimming the SIM.

In my experience I've encountered three different sizes of gold metal contact area on the standard sized SIM. This may sound odd because SIM manufacturers are supposed to use the same size contact area but it's easy to see from looking at a number of SIMs from different operators that this isn't the case.

If you are careful and check your SIM before you cut it as I do, you should have the same consistent success I've had.

I got this so I could swap my sim back and forth between an iPhone 4 and a nexus s, I popped my microsim in the adapter and tried to put it in the nexus, it nearly broke the phone, if I hadn't stopped it would have broken the contacts. I then realized that I could use the cutter to punch out part of an old sim card and swap my microsim into that, using the old sim as my adapter. This worked, it took a bit of tinkering, but I'm now up and running.

The actual cutter is a great product. It is made of metal and is very sturdy and well built. I slid my full sized sim card into the slot like the diagram on the cutter showed and pressed down and got a perfectly cut micro-sim! I have read that you must look at your full sized sim card to make sure that the gold contacts dont run all away across the card because if that is the case this cutter will destroy the sim card. For my card this wasnt the case so the cutter worked perfectly!

The adapters are another story. While I am using one of the adapters in my Focus Windows Phone the fit is VERY tight. I can see how if someone applied too much force while sliding the card into the phone things could get damaged. If they just made the adapter just a tiny but thinner this would not be an issue at all. Another reviewer came up with the idea of using the punched out large sim as the adapter for the micro sim. I tried this and it did take a little fiddling with to make sure the micro sim didnt fall out as I was sliding it in but it did indeed work. So if they adapter that comes with this cutter doesnt want to slide in then you can always use that little trick.

Overall I give the product 4 stars. It is a 5 star product if you have no need for the sim adapters that come with it. The only reason you would need these is if you want to switch back and forth between and iPhone and a regular sized sim card phone. If all you want to do is cut your sim card down to fit in an iphone then this is the best product out there to do that!

This card cutter is a waste of money. I tried it twice so far, both times the sim card came out with a lot of sharp points and didn't fit in either the iPad or the iPhone sim tray. Had to trim it with scissors as if doing it all over again. I would return it if I could.

Also it should also have included 2 microsim adapters, it only included one only and it was floppy and bent. Afraid to insert it in any sim tray it might get jammed.

The cutter itself does a great job. Adapters included is not good at all. After looking at the quality I did not use the adapter at all, instead I choose to use the original trim from the sim card. If necessary you can apply a piece of tape with the micro sim and the original trim than using the provided adapter.

I was going to give only 4Stars because of the cheap quality adapter, but then decided to give 5Stars because it does the cutting job very well.

I had no issues to cut the sim. Insert the sim card following the symbol under the cutter. Place it on a flat surface, put maximum pressure and press it down. Perfectly trimmed micro sim is ready!

Meh, it's okay. You really have to SLAM on it hard & very fast. Otherwise, it just bends your SIM card and puts deep grooves in it. That's what happened to me. But it was fine, the grooves it created made it very clear to me where to cut so I just got some nail-clippers and finished the job it started. The adapaters are nice too. So in the end I got what I wanted, a microSIM that fit into my new BLU phone and adapaters for older phones that work too.
