I bought this hip & joint supplement for my 2 dogs. Once opening the container, I saw and smelled something fantastic. The supplements look really pretty like shiny black obsidian and they smell like a cocoa baked treat or something chocolate-y. What's in these items? Black malt, carob powder, fish oil, whey powder, flaxseed oil. Healthy stuff! I couldn't resist; my dogs gobble them up and beg for more, so shouldn't I taste what I give my dogs?? Well, that was gross. I don't recommend these for human consumption but by all means I DO recommend these for your dog(s).

My dog is 17.5 years old and I swear she is immortal. We have long goodbyes when my son is home because he is afraid she won't be here the next time - but she always is. She is bouncy and happy and seemingly does not realize that she is on borrowed time. But about a year ago she gnawed a big raw spot on her leg. The vet said to give her antibiotic, keep her comfortable and give her whatever she wants because it might be time to "make a decision". Needless to say, no decision was made. Her leg healed up and we started giving her glucosamine chondroitin and she almost never limps or chews on that bad leg anymore. These are easy for her to take - she is picky but snaps these right up. That is important because getting her to take anything is a real pain (she's smart, she will suck the hotdog off and spit a pill across the room like a cowboy hitting a spittoon). I especially love these because they have turmeric and I am personally very familiar with how well that works on pain and inflammation.

Who knows how much longer we have her - but we stopped "making her comfortable and giving her whatever she wants" because it became a real hassle and she does not seem to be going anywhere too soon.

Not the Same Product as Past Orders

I have purchased these many times in the past and was very satisfied. This current purchase is bad. The treats are not the same product as I received previously. Whereas in the past the chews had a very dark sticky texture and smelled sweet with a heavy and pleasant molasses oder, they no longer do.

These are dry and reek of burnt charcoal. I have not even offered one to my dog as I am afraid these could be harmful to her.

Very sad that Nootie may have changed the formula and not told their long time customers. Disappointed does not sum it up.

I was skeptical at first that a product could make such an immediate change in my dogs. I have dogs with hip problems (hip displacia).
My first dog had surgery - and I have seen a remarkable difference in his movement since providing this
My other dog used to run hard and play hard every day, but would be limping by the evening. It was a struggle to get on the couch in the evenings or get up the stairs. You could tell the dog was in pain, but wouldn't slow down in playing or running outside. Since then, I have seen a 180 deg change. No more limping or hurting in the evenings. the dog runs up and down the stairs morning or evening. Significantly more energy. Also, I haven't seen a single time where the hip gets locked and the dog is yelping in pain. I normally do not leave product reviews, but this product has made such a significant difference, that I had to leave something!

I have two dogs that both have had hip and joint issues and were limping significantly on a fairly constant basis. Once I started giving them these supplements they're both moving much better, and in fact the dog with the worst issues before is now better than the one that was better before-hand.

Although the pills do smell poorly, both dogs seem to enjoy them including the one that's pretty picky with her food.

The pills are expensive, but compared to vet bills and pain medications they're pretty cheap.

What can you say about supplements for animals? I'll say as much as I can...
My brother's dog is 10+ years old and is definitely feeling her age in her joints. She was a very spry, active dog in her youth but had an injury that brought on some premature bone and joint issues. Then she had an neurological issue that caused some atrophy in her muscles and joints.

Enter Nootie.

We've used several Nootie products. Our dogs seem to like the taste and the humans seem to not mind the smell. It's hard to say much else about supplements HOWEVER I really do think that without the glucosamine chondroitin chews, my brother's dog would be in much worse shape. After her neurological event, the vet said to not expect much in terms of recovery. For my brother to expect to change piddle pads and turn his poor girl every few hours during the day to relieve pressure on her body. Now? Now, she is up and moving and even jogging at times as you would expect an older dog to move. Was it these supplements? Who knows? But I can't help but contribute some of her current state of health to Nootie.
