The story is charming, educational, supports friendship and understanding, and teaches learning in such items as counting and how to make the most of a friendly preschool situation. It is directed toward Preschool, Kindergarten and early childhood education.
Though the illustrations are not attributed to any artist they appear to be extracted from the video series MY TEACHER HILDA. The story is well summarized – ‘It's Nora's first day at the Bumble Bee Academy daycare. She has been crying on the way to school. Things change as soon as she meets her class. Playing is an important part of children's learning and development. This first book in the series follows Nora's first day at Bumble Bee Academy, a daycare run by Hilda, the head teacher, and focuses on play based early learning. The cute animal characters continuously engage in fun filled learning activities. This series also aims to help kids learn socialization before they join kindergarten to help make this important transition easier.’
A very fine start for a new children’s book author! Grady Harp, July 17

Nora, a lemur-like creature from India called a loris, dreads her first day of daycare. But the kindly teacher, a hippo named Ms. Hilda, and a menagerie of a class soon set Nora’s fears at ease.
Tamar Bobokhide’s illustrations of the wide-eyed Nora and her pals proves utterly charming; my only quibble with this picture book is that the story goes on a bit long for its target audience of 3- and 4-year-olds, with too many pages and too many words per page. Still, it would make a lovely present to chase away the new-school blues.
In the interest of full disclosure, I received this book from Lune Spark Books in exchange for an honest review.
It has an interesting story with nice, cute pictures. This is an enjoyable read which has the added touch of being educational.
I read to my child every night and she was asleep by the end of this one which is the desired result (8 months).
5 stars out of 5. *I received an ARC of this book in exchange for a fair review*
Its a very good initiative Tamar, that you took. I enjoyed the book and it really gives a good vibes for getting it be a part of pre-school. The characters chosen where good to get the KG students involve as much as they want to get the fun. Its a very good way to get your child/children to introduce to the school phobia that they have for there first day at school.
Kindergartens should definitely start to add it in there syllabus. Its good to read and full of fun.
The art work is also good and quite relevant to the story casted.
I would really recommend it to those who belongs to the educational field to read it once and let it be a part of your pre-school curriculum.
Would encourage every parent to read this book to their kid(s). There’s a great lesson in bonding and teamwork for your child
