Nordic Liosálfar Svala and Viggo have been in love for a thousand years. After two years apart Svala turns on her TV to find Viggo in the public light, posing as a movie star. She tries to seek him out and the events that follow forces some deep buried secrets to surface...
Svala and Viggo have spent a hundred lives together over the last thousand years. As Liosálfar, Nordic light fairies, their job is to do good and to uphold a balance in the mortal world. A balance, often compromised by the Döckálfar, Nordic dark fairies.
But even good fairies need incentive.
Svala and Viggo are kept apart each life until they fulfill their assignments. Only when, and if, they succeed are they allowed to be together for whatever period of time the powers that be decides. Sometimes they are together for decades, other times years and during the last union once only three weeks.
In this life, Svala turns on her TV and learns that Viggo has become a popular movie star. This is not only highly unexpected, it indicates something is wrong and that Viggo is attempting to contact Svala before their assignments are carried out, an action which is strictly forbidden.
Svala seeks him out, but not without breaking a few rules of her own, and learning that things are not always as they seem.
I can read anything from a quick read to and full length seems never to end novel.Read more ›
Right from the first pages we are enveloped in a fairytale-like atmosphere, even though the action is placed in modern day New York. Svala is a Nordic light fairy who is constantly torn between her duty and her consuming love for Viggo, the lover she can only spend some time with when they complete their assignments. Now she finds herself in a dangerous situation, when she must find out why Viggo chose to expose himself by becoming a famous young actor, while keeping her distance and controlling her overwhelming feelings. If they meet before finishing their current assignments, they might lose each other and this is a risk none on them is willing to take.
I liked the fact that the characters were presented step by step and, as a reader, I got the chance to learn more about them while delving into their fascinating story. Svala is just my kind of female lead character: she's a strong, down-to-earth girl who always thinks twice before risking what she has. Viggo seems a bit more impulsive and I hope I'll find more about him in the next novellas. Nordic Fairies is quite short and there wasn't enough space for his point of view. The two form a very nice couple and I was really involved in their unusual love story, always wanting to see them together.Read more ›
This was very short & yet very confusing. They have a mission in each life, but none of that is really explained. There's possible a traitor. There's the mysterious woman in the gem shop who somehow connected, but again no explanation. I felt like this was just a quick set-up for the next installment & I'm glad I picked this up free.
However, the author writes well and it has potential for being a great story. Many details could have been added to make it much better than it was.

My biggest complaint about this book is that instead of making a full-size book, the author broke it up into 6 short stories. Expect for monetarily, this makes no sense. Read morePublished 20 months ago by Carolyn F

Well I was going to give it two stars but the ending changed my mind. Until a little over halfway through my biggest thought about the book was that it was angst city. Read morePublished on March 27, 2014 by Amazon Customer

Okay so the core of the story is here and I love the idea. The idea of good and bad Nordic fairies and that they are not mortal. I love it. Read morePublished on January 25, 2014 by Ambrosia Jefferson
