This type of candy is very popular in parts of Europe, like Scandinavia and Germany. To give salty licorice a one star rating because it tastes like salty licorice is supposed to, is like complaining about sugar tasting too sweet.

These candies look very similar to Malaco's Salty fish, but tastes different to my big disappointment. Not the greatest salty licorice I've had, but works fine when there's none other around to buy.

I'm from Scandinavia and absolute love these. When I shop at Ikea I usually buy these at their food shop and I can't stop eating them. The salty flavor is GREAT!

I don't even offer an American salty Liquorice as they spit it out and then I wasted a perfectly good piece of candy, that in the past was only available to me when my mom would send me a care packet.

I've always liked licorice and I've tried quite a variety of types. Well, here's a new one. It's salty licorice and I found it at our nearby IKEA store. It has a real fine, rich licorice taste plus it's quite salty. It's tough and chewy, perhaps somewhat like a fairly hard gummy bear in the shape of a fish. Nice mix. My wife (Russian) says it's more characteristic of northern European candies which tend to be less sweet. This licorice is imported from Sweden.

You may find this a delicious candy and have trouble putting it down. That's my problem. On the other hand, you may not like it at all. Licorice sold in the U.S. tends to be much sweeter and less flavorful. If you're used to this type and then try these salty licorice fish, you may find it quite startling. My take is that it's startlingly good.

In an attempt to replicate the fish from the Dr. Seuss book One Fish, Two Fish, I ordered this candy to represent the black fish in the story. It was the only black fish I could find and I only added a few to each centerpiece, so the flavor and smell wouldn't overpower the citrus flavored, multicolored Swedish fish that were placed in a fish bowl with them.. I like black licorice, and the sea salt adds a special flavor. This is strong black licorice, and should only be ordered by licorice lovers.

If your concept of licorice is the sweet red rope stuff, you will be in for a disappointment. This is the style of licorice introduced to me by my Scandinavian relatives. I hated it as a little kid. However, once I acquired a taste for it, it can be somewhat addictive.

Well, these salty licorice fish are a type of candy that is popular in some areas of Europe. There might be some sugar in them but it is hard to detect above the salt flavor. These candy fish are soft and chewy, somewhat softer than a Twizzler stick. If you chew them up you get a powerfully salty effect, or if you suck on them it is somewhat milder.

I think they are pretty good. I prefer a firmer salt licorice style than this because I don't like chewing them up, I like allowing them to dissolve in my mouth, and these dissolve too rapidly for my liking. But overall they are a fine example of this style of candy.

Tip, try a single small bag or sample before you order a whole case, just to make sure you like these. This is *NOT* American style licorice and it is nothing like it. Most Americans will spit this out and think you poisoned them :-)

This is good licorice, but on this order there were only 11 packages in the box, instead of the 12 there were supposed to be. Plus, I could find no place on Amazon to address this sort of problem and get a partial refund.

Someone gave me a bag of this licorice frin Vermont; it is my most favorite black licorice I have ever had - and I have tried MANY different brands. It is salty, but I really like that flavor. Was amazed to find that I could buy it from Amazon - I bought a case/8 pkgs. and will be ordering more soon.
