How It's Made

Our beloved Bundts are produced with lots of hand touch and care, ensuring that they will last for a lifetime. We've perfected this process over the past seven decades--there is a lot of science behind created the best Bundts on earth! At the die casting facility, molten aluminum at temperatures of over 1200 degrees F is ladled into a chamber where an arm rapidly pushes the liquid aluminum into the die (mold). This takes place in a fraction of a second, and the aluminum solidifies as it hits the cooler mold. The two halves of the mold open up, releasing a very hot but solid aluminum Bundt pan.

The pans have razor sharp 'flash', or left over aluminum, that is protruding from the perimeter of each pan. The flash is trimmed to a rough perimeter before the pans are sent to our main processing facility. There, they undergo a series of secondary finishing processes, including vibratory deburring in a chamber of ceramic pebble, shot blasting with stainless media to 'roughen' the parts, and a perimeter routing in a CNC machine to smooth the edges and trim out handles. Next, they are thoroughly washed, and then sent to coatings to be sprayed and cured with PFOA-free premium nonstick. By the time a Bundt pan has left our factory, it has been touched by nearly two dozen sets of hands, ensure that you're receiving the best Bundt pan in the world.

Our Story

Nordic Ware was founded in 1946 by a determined wife, Dotty, and her resourceful husband Dave, newly back from the second world war. With only five hundred dollars in their pockets, a few good ideas and a desire to create a business of their own, a humble kitchenware company was launched from the basement of their home in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In the beginning, Nordic Ware’s product line was only a handful of items, all of which were specialty Scandinavian ethnic cookware products. But times have changed! 70 years later with a good measure of perseverance added, Nordic Ware is still proudly manufacturing the vast majority of its products in Minneapolis. We’re proud to say that we’re still family-owned and operated, with three generations involved in our business, and each year we add innovative items to our expansive kitchenware line.

Still a family owned and operated in the US, the company is honored to occupy a place in the new Food History exhibit at the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. 1)Before initial use and after subsequent uses, hand wash with warm, soapy water. Extended soaking is not recommended. 2)Before each use, brush with butter or shortening and dust with flour or cocoa to coat. Baking spray containing flour may also be used. Do not use regular cooking spray. 3)Mixes and recipes may vary. Great Pan But Can't Get One That's Not Damaged

I love this pan and have big plans for it when entertaining. I am frustrated because the first one I ordered had a chip out of the non-stick coating. I ordered a second pan because I want to be able to use this pan for a long time and am concerned that the non-stick coating may continue to come off. The non-stick coating was scraped off on 2 areas of the second pan I ordered. I'm going to keep the second one because the scrapes are away from where I would be trying to clean the pan so hopefully the coating won't come off any more. Both pans were sent in plastic mailing bags without bubble wrap or any cushioning. I think this is why they were both damaged.

Ever want to bake little sponge cakes like those in your supermarket? This pan will let you bake six at a time, and the basket weave pattern will make them look very fancy. A very good recipe for shortbread comes with the pan, and the manufacturer posts another for chocolate. My wife and I have found that basic banana cake and sponge cake recipes [everyone has favorites] make a dozen cakes; keep the bowl of batter covered during the much shorter than usual baking time for the first batch. Or invest in a second pan if you have crowds to treat, as for fellowship times at churches and other organizations. We also tried a commercial gluten-free flour [Amazon has a good selection] with quite satisfactory results. Strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries -- can't wait for our hardy kiwi crop. And so many people have admired the pan that we have birthday and anniversary gifts covered for the coming year.

Hey, this is the neatest thing since-- light bread! Perfect for individual pineapple up-side-down cakes. And a real winner when you bake sour cream pound cakes. This is so nice when you want to give an individual, or a couple a sample of your latest bake-off. You don't have to worry with cutting and all that goes with that. And if you want to hear real raves just take a batch of them to your next church, club or family gathering. Your plate will be the first one to clear. If you have someone in a nursing home-- you've got to have this. It really makes tired old eyes shine! When you bake with Nordic Ware (cast aluminum) you can bake with confidence. It will be evenly cooked and have a wonderful crust. And I haven't had a sticking problem-- ever, with these wonderful heavy baking pans. I have had my tube (pound cake) pan for many, many years. Quality product that you expect from Nordic Ware. However do not use a light fluffy cake. A pound cake works best to get the shape and to come out easily. If the cake is to soft it doesn't create a clean basket look. There is a recipe that comes with the pan that work pretty well just lacked a little flavor for my taste. Also, grease and flour every nook and cranny of these pans. Because you can't go around the edge with a knife to loosen it you have to make sure that you can get these cake-lets outs. I sprayed with cooking spray then took a paper towel and wiped it all into the weaving. A basting brush would work well too. Then I put a spoonful of flour into each one and tapped it around until all of the inside is coated. I tap out any extra flour. This allowed me a nice release for my beautiful strawberry shortcake baskets.

This was the first time I have been disappointed with a Nordic Ware cast pan. I love the design and plan to bake short cakes this weekend, but there are several blemishes on this cast. Maybe the mold is imperfect or maybe all that is left are blemished pans I do not know. I may take a grinder and take of the pointy pieces.
I am sure it will bake just fine. Its cake so, no one will care what the pan looks like. I will still give a 4-star rating as I know it will bake even and wonderful cakes.

This pan is beautiful, well made and gives great little flan cases for individual desserts. Great for entertaining.

The pan itself is well made like all the Nordic Platinum range and washes easily in warm soapy water, so no need for the dishwasher. The cakes turn out easily if the pan is oiled and floured correctly.
