Fits dinner plates up to 11 inches and the Nordic Ware 2-sided Bacon-Meat Grill. Allows you to view food without spatters in the microwave. Prevents spatters in microwave and keeps food warm for serving. Clear see-thru plastic to view food as it cooks. Proudly made in the USA.
Concentrate heat around microwaved food and keep it moist with this transparent, high-domed plastic cover. Because it protects against splattering, it's a useful accessory for Nordic Ware's two-sided round microwave bacon/meat grill. The cover fits dinner plates up to 11 inches in diameter. It also enables two plates of food to be cooked or warmed in a microwave at once: cover one and stack the second atop the cover. The cover is virtually unbreakable and is safe in the freezer and dishwasher. --Fred Brack
Top Customer Reviews
Well no more, thanks to the Nordic Ware microwave plate cover! I had a couple of flat covers (dollar store) that work well over mugs and some bowls, but obviously can't cover a plate. So I turned to Amazon, read a ton of product reviews, and ordered this one.
I'm sure glad I did! It works perfectly for our situation! The cover covers our plates exactly right and sits right on the edge of the microwave turntable. I always pick it up by the sides and have never gotten a steam burn. The hole in the top lets steam escape, ensuring even heating.
I do microwave for just a tad longer time (15-30 seconds, depending upon what I'm heating up) to ensure the food is warm all the way through. I have not had a single mishap--the cover works perfectly every time.
It also rinses clean with hot water and comes out nicely in the dishwasher. The color has remained true, with no clouding.
As for storage--any solid cover like this is awkward to store, and I have very little storage space in my kitchen. Besides, I cook every day, and heat things in the microwave every single day. I don't want to be dragging this out of a cabinet several times a day. My solution? I store my microwave covers IN the microwave! It's no bother taking them out to put the food in, and besides, it reminds certain people (ahem! ahem!) to actually USE them!
This microwave plate cover from Nordic Ware fits my plates and turntable perfectly. The food heats evenly, and best of all--I haven't had to clean up any chili explosions since I got it!
Five big stars!
Note. When I received the cover, it seemed really large. I headed to my 700 watt microwave, opened the door, sat the cover down on the turntable and tried to close the door. Oppps...the door wouldn't close. I said to hubby...don't throw that box away. I have to return this because it's too big. He came in and looked the situation over. Then the light bulb went on. The back wall of the microwave has a inset. I was setting the cover flat on the turntable instead of on a plate so the rim of the cover was laying against the floor of the micro. When you put a plate on the turntable and then cover it with the plate cover, the rim of the cover fits back into the inset and the door closed perfectly and everything was fine. Bottom line, don't reject it because it appears to be too big. Place it on a plate which will raise the cover up off the floor and allow it to set back into the inset and work just fine. Obviously, if you have a REALLY tiny microwave, there might be a problem but not for standard size microwaves.
