With more features than the normal Treadmill desk, The Treadmill desk Platinum provides a much better Alternative to both sitting and Standing desks. New studies emerge every day highlighting the negative effects of sitting. Now you can work out while you work. Improvements on this NTL14815 include incline capability, customizable uprights, and faster speeds.
*Continuous Horsepower ("CHP") is a term used in the treadmill industry for consumer comparison purposes. The CHP rating is measured in laboratory testing using a dynamometer, which measures the mechanical power of the motor. The CHP rating does not denote the operational horsepower of the treadmill in ordinary household use. In ordinary household use, the motor does not operate at the horsepower shown.

The thing that I didn't like is that in order to even turn the machine on I had to download an app, create an account, sign up for a fitness coaching program that I have no interest in, and enter my credit card information for a free trial before my machine would even turn on. There was no mention of this when we bought it. Not only did it take me about 45 minutes to figure out how to get my machine on at all so I could simply run on it, but now I can't delete my credit card details from their website. I cancelled my membership as soon as the machine was working and it does function without the app - but only after you have initially set it all up and turned it on.
This kind of business practice to me is not ok. I might have enjoyed the app - who knows - but the fact that I was forced to sign up for something I didn't ask for to get my treadmill working left a bad taste in my mouth.
so if you buy it - be warned - iFit comes with it and you HAVE to try it if you want your dang treadmill to work! Sometimes simplicity really does make a difference... and a happy customer.
As hardware, however, it's excellent. The desktop surface is well-positioned and adjustable from sitting to standing height. The deck folds up and out of the way if you need the floor space. The desktop is quite stable, though probably not as stable as a desktop that isn't attached to the treadmill. But the one-piece design of this unit is very nice looking. The wood laminate and black color scheme is classy. Construction sturdy. Pretty quiet, too. The belt is narrow but not too much so, and it's plenty long. And it's fairly high speed, so jogging is fine.
I love it despite the non-existent connectivity; I simply use a manual step-tracker instead. But if you really need the iFit/bluetooth connection, do your research on iFit compatibility before buying this.
However, I wasn’t charged anything, and though you need to give your credit card info to the service, you can cancel straight away. Personally, I would wait a couple days to test the service out, and see if interests you. But that’s just what I am going to do, for now.
The desk portion is very nice looking, but it’s not as big as a fully functional office desk. I plan on putting a pc, monitor, keyboard, and mouse on mine, but there probably won’t be room for too much else. I guess I will find out after I set my PC up up in a little bit...
The motor is quiet, but my belt seems to need a bit more oil. (The belt is a little louder than I expected, however the noise is definitely not coming from the motor, it’s coming from the other end of the machine where the belt rolls under).
Overall, I’m very happy with my new machine. The activation was painless, and very easy. The iFit app seems intriguing, with genuine trainers and workouts made to work with my exact machine — that’s pretty cool.
If I run into any problems I’ll update my review.
I’d like to mention, as a side note, I purchased a Lifespan Treadmill desk in 2012, it worked great until 2016, when it randomly stopped allowing me to use the controls on the console. They simply wouldn’t respond. I had many frustrating workouts, because some days it worked, until late 2017 when it stopped responding altogether... Lifespan couldn’t help, because they had scrapped their old design, and so I was basically forced to buy another treadmill desk, and so here I am, hoping NordicTrack treats me better, and the product lasts a lot longer.
