The EZTR40 is a first of its kind product. It ships as a complete kit and is designed to easily convert your 30/40 gallon tank type water heater to tankless technology. Like tank type heaters the water connections are on top of the unit. And due to its high efficiency condensing technology you can use the existing venting as conduit for the flexible polypropylene vent pipe that ships with the unit. Also included is an isolation valve kit that allows you to easily service and descale your EZTR when required. This heater can be installed on gas lines as small as ½” (120,000 BTUH maximum requirement). The EZTR flows up to 6.6 gallons per minute and is Energy Star listed.

Installation was mostly easy and the biggest issues were due to the house design rather than the heater (required a new outlet in the closet, moving of a few water pipes in the wall, shoring up the badly installed vent, and re-arrangement of the gas lines to not take up the entire closet). It took me about 3 evenings from removal to first use, but most of that time was the other stuff - had everything been in the right place I could have installed in 3-4 hours.
The hardest part was trying to figure out how high I could mount the unit to allow for the bend in the exhaust to meet the existing vent, which took a little guesswork but came out ok. It is also a heavy unit to move by one person - really requires two people for a couple of hours to plan, arrange and fasten, but otherwise was a one-man/woman job.
The unit is decently quiet - there is a hum when running, but since it is next to the bathroom that it serves, the water covers the hum most of the time, except for a few seconds after the water is off and the unit has yet to shut off. It is really no different than other 'normal' house sounds, and is certainly quieter than the HVAC that it is also next to. It provides sufficient hot water to that one bathroom (that is all that it serves) - I cannot comment on its ability to do anything more than that.
thoroughly understand how it works, then the advanced DIY'er can accomplish this install easily. This IS NOT, however, a project for a
beginner. And don't forget the rebate from your local gas utility.....most have them!
Have had it installed since 08/02/16 (6 months) and absolutely no issues, leaks, restarts. The unit functions smooth and successful.
Hot water sometimes can be limited for a home of 5. If you require dutiful and longer hot water for homes larger than 5 occupants, I'd recommend a 60 or 80 - if those models are available (guessing these models out of my tail - please research).
Water heat is consistent. The company is also a pleasure to work with. Very pleased and you will be too.
*** INSTALLATION NOTE - before installing, I recommend considering the unit's ventilation, water, and draining outlets with your existing (or new) installation. If the drain is on another wall, you'll need to copper pipe there - or adjust to existing piping. Measure and planning is best, prior to installation.
It has been several months and the unit works great and took place of the two 40 gallon water heaters.
