Norma Talmadge is such a neglected major movie star of the silent era - from 1917 -1926 probally the biggest female box office draw except for Mary Pickford and {maybe} Gloria Swanson. A silent screen eqivalent to Betty Davis, Greer Garson,or Greta Garbo but was a far bigger box office draw in her era than any of them at their peaks. She was a star from 1910-11 until 1930 a long career for a female at that time These Vitagraph shorts are from her early period while she was learning her craft. It is a pity that the quality of these shorts are only fair {at best} to poor because some like " A Helpfull Sisterhood " about Sorority Sisters , social snobbery and "keeping up with the Jones" is a nice little story that shows off Norma very well. The musical score is ok but nothing special. Vitagraph destroyed most of its old negatives when Warner Brothers took them over in 1925 so it is amazing that even these shorts survive. Still I was hoping for a higher quality picture /product. I would recommend this DVD for the diehard silent film aficionado but the poor quality prevents me from giving this DVD anything but a "luke warm review / recommendation"
