A delightful nod to traditional design, this Normande Lighting lamp (model JM1-778D) features a torchiere lamp for full-room illumination as well as a smaller side reading lamp for more focused lighting. It has a brushed steel finish with a round-tiered base, and the two lamps feature frosted glass shades.
The top torchiere lamp accepts a maximum 100-watt bulb, while the reading light takes a maximum 40-watt bulb (light bulbs not included). A rotary 3-way switch turns on torchiere, reading light, or both. It measures 71 inches tall and 16-4/5 inches wide. Assembly required.
Note: This lamp is not compliant with California Title 24 lighting requirements.

I bought one for our family room and liked it so well that I soon purchased another for the sitting area in our bedroom. We have been very happy with both of them, as you can have as much room light as you want out of the upper lamp, and the lower flexible-arm lamp is at precisely the right height to be used next to a comfortable chair for reading a newspaper or book.
Note that these lamps come in several finishes, so while brushed steel matched our decor there are a variety of other finishes and colors that may be a better match for you. If this is the style you're looking for, the quality of this lamp ought to satisfy you.
- The glass in the lamp has a beautiful design swirl design making the piece look very elegant when turned "on".
- The additional small lamp is movable so is very functional.
- The large lamp is difficult to turn on or off, especially off after the lamp has been on for quite sometime. The knob is quite small and difficult to grip, so I ended up having to put a piece of tape on the knob to make it easier to turn the lamp off - hence 3 stars only.
Overall, this lamp looks nice, but for the price, you should be able to find a lamp that looks as nice and is easier to turn on and off.
Update #3 04/13/2015 The lamp is still going strong. Finish, cords, globes, flex arm, and switches still remain intact. I use this lamp seven days of every week. I will say that the switches get very little use because of the addition of the dimmer last year. The switch on the flexible arm bulb gets more activity than the top switch because I don't really use the flex arm lamp except on really cloudy days.
Update #2 07/01/2014 This lamp is still going strong. I have replaced the Incandescent bulbs with LED bulbs and added a Lutron TTCL-100H-WH Credenza Dimmable CFL/LED Dimmer, White in the interest of energy conservation. The finish on all of the lamp parts is still like new, the switches are all fine, and the flexible arm for the side lamp is still working great.
08/13/2013 I purchased this lamp in September of 2012 and it is still doing its job. The three-way switch for the upper lamp is getting a bit iffy but still working with very little tinkering. Certainly worth the money as I use this lamp as the primary light source in my home office for several hours every day.
It arrived promptly and only took a few minutes to assemble. It is bottom heavy which is good for balance. This one has a three-way switch for the top lamp which accepts a 3 way bulb up to 100 watts. I currently have a 30/70/100 watt 3 way bulb installed that works as expected. The bottom lamp is maximum 40 watt and has its own switch which is just On or Off. Both light sockets are the same size. Neither switch is particularly difficult to turn.

Very nice lamp. No bulbs included. Neck is adjustable but limited. Unfortunately the stand is rather wobbly unless you fiddle with it enough to stand straight. Read morePublished 1 month ago by Amy T

Total crap.....You have to put it together which is fine, but the threads never ever screwed in properly. Read morePublished 7 months ago by Henry Avila
It is a beautiful lamp. It came packaged very well and nothing was damaged. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because I still can not get the top section to screw in correctly... Read morePublished 8 months ago by jasigirl
Base is heavy which is nice. However, sections to not screw together to well. Hard to start and strip easy. One of my lamps is already leaning at joint. Disappointed.Published 10 months ago by BarneyFyfe
