Also the handles are pretty wide apart, exactly as pictured so if you have particularly short fingers you could run into problems.
Overall I'd call it a 5 star canning wrench and a 4 star general purpose jar wrench.
I think I'll go back and try one of those devices where it's placed on top, tightened, and then unscrews the lid off.
