Another nice plus I wasn't expecting...using the press virtually eliminates spatter. I had been considering getting a splatter guard or screen but now I think I'll hold off on that.
For burgers the press is no-stick. I haven't tried it with bacon yet but looking forward again.
Love it, would buy again, etc. )
Update: Still works like a champ. After use, I wash with hot water, scrub it up as needed, and dry on the stove—low heat till all water evaporates. Not a spot of rust. Bonus—fits perfect in all my standard No. 8 frying pans and in my new Lodge 9.5” square griddle pan (shown). The people with rust apparently don’t follow basic cast iron care.
If it doesn't last, I'll try a thick dowel from the hardware store.
The coating, like all cast iron now a days, should be removed and a proper seasoning built up. Thats not a negative anymore, it's a fact of life so I don't ding the company for it. Besides I'd be angry if I received a rusty cast iron because the box got caught in a rainstorm while enroute.
It didnt work too well for steaks, but definitely worked well for bacon. Usually I'll prewarm this on the burner next to the pan I'm cooking with while I warm the pan.
If you've never used a press be forewarned: your cooking speed decreases dramatically. It took me many a burned piggy to get the hang of it, but it's well worth it. Just imagine all the white fatty parts of the bacon cooked to a golden crunchy state of perfection that surpasses the meaty part.
8/10 fix the spinny handle problem at the factory so I don't have to

The press showed up 2 weeks or so after I had made the order.
