This is one of the handiest items you could possibly have. Besides using the twine for trussing poultry you'll find 101 more uses for it. Whether it be tying up tomato plants to a stake, hanging herbs to dry or any other reason you have to keep something together.
The container is beautiful just a quick wipe off and dry and it looks like the day you bought it.
It has a small footprint in your kitchen but despite that, whenever you need a piece of string, you'll know right where to go!
Amazon sells refills that fit perfectly. The twine kept in the container never gets tangled up or knotted so there's no problem pulling out however much you need.
I absolutely love it.
If you don't think you need kitchen twine, get this and be amazed at how much you use it. Beyond just tying meats, this is great for tying cheesecloth to make greek yogurt, tie the bread bag shut when the twist-tie breaks, tie the base cupbords shut when a child is in your house for a visit, hang mistletoe, tie together herb budles, etc. I never realized how handy it is to have bits of sturdy twine ready for use.
It has become a real household staple.
Yes, the ball of twine fits snugly in the holder. If you feed the loose end from the outside of the ball through the hole, the twine will not feed well.
Just use tweezers or a small hook to find the OTHER end, which is usually invisible but easily found in the open hollow core of the ball. Feed this end through the hole and it pulls just fine. unwinding inside the ball while the ball stays stable in the holder.
The lid WAS snug, as others have said, and I could not easily have just pulled it off, but by twisting the lid and pulling, I broke the air lock and the lid came off easily.
I like that the container takes no more space than a ball of twine and is much easier to use and will stay much cleaner than a loose ball. SO nice when tying up a large roast to pull out new string and not worry about soiling the ball with meat juices.
Found out the hard way that if you push the top down too hard it pretty much locks in place and you need to be the Incredible Hulk to remove it. So don't press it down hard, it stays in place just fine with a little seating pressure.
Overall a good buy. Definitely recommend.
