Pounds meat with ease.
Comfortable you use. While there is a little heft to this meat pounder it is easy on the hand and wrist.
Easy to clean.
Heavy duty, and value for your money.
This will be the only meaty pounder you're ever going to buy.
Multi functional. (Not for it's intended purpose, I know but I dont have a rolling pin) this also works well smashing graham crackers and cookies for pie crusts.
5 start product.
If for some odd reason I ever manage to break this thing, I will gladly buy this product again.
I have to concur with "Cook's Illustrated." I have less wrist strain with the offset handle. The pounder has a good heft, and makes quick work of the meat. The disk is 3 and 3/4 inches in diameter. The overall length is 11 and 1/4 inches. My kitchen (spring) scales weight the Norpro at 1 lb. 10 ozs. The chrome surface is smooth, and could not be easier to clean. One only has to look at the photo to see how easy.
I almost did not buy this because of the price. However, we use our meat pounder a lot, and the Norpro Offset Pounder has been worth every penny to my wife and I.
Buy the best -- scream once.
Size: The over-sized "business end" of the tool is large, somewhat heavy and round. This spreads out the force of the blows and minimizes tearing. The length of the handle also gives the user good leverage.
Weight: At close to 2 pounds this model makes quick work out of flattening a chicken breast or a slice of veal.
Finish: The zinc alloy and chrome plating makes the unit attractive and easy to clean.
Design: For me the offset design makes using this pounder a delight.
As with any item designed for pounding you still must exercise caution and learn the proper technique to avoid turning a beautiful slice of meat into hamburger. I am very happy with this model and will recommend it to friends.
WMF Profi Plus 10-Inch Stainless Steel Meat Pounder
Inspect yours carefully. if you see any crack or flaw in the plating, exchange it immediately. If the plating is compromised in any way, that where corrosion will start. If it does get oxidized some 10 years down the road, don't sweat it, it will still perform well and you may have to store it in a drawer instead of on your mantlepiece....no big deal!
This feels great in my hand and has enough heft to get the job done. It's big enough to distribute the weight and keep from tearing the chicken breasts when I'm smashing them.
Nice mirror finish, but warning to OCD perfectionists like me. Mine came with a few scratches already on the top. There's absolutely no functional issue with it, but the scratches are a bit annoying.
