- Reviewed in the United States on June 5, 2008with this pan. It is moderately priced and to my non-expert eye, well made. It did warp a bit when I used it in a 425 degree oven, but that is not really a problem for me. I am not sure what the sticky problem is the other reviewers are talking about. This pan had a full size label on it but it peeled right off with no residue. However a Norpro cookie sheet I bought a month previous to this jelly roll pan did have sticky gunk left from the label on the cooking surface, but I just followed the advice of the other reviewers and used a little wd40 waited a bit and then it washed right off.
I am trying to replace all the beat up and "nonstick" cook and bake ware in my house with stainless steel and glass.(I just cannot believe all that flaking Teflon that gets cooked and baked into the food is harmless.) I cannot afford the expensive, heavy, professional stainless bake ware and I feel that Norpro provides an affordable, durable, and I think, attractive alternative.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 16, 2015This is my second norpro stainless steel pan. I bought it because I love and use my first one so much. We do a lot of cooking according to World's Healthiest Foods who suggest heating up the pan under the broiler and then dropping on the marinated cut of meat to sear and cook it. These are perfect for that task. They have twisted once in a while in the extreme heat, but they always go back to normal. We also put parchment paper on them and use them to roast veggies.
Letting them sit in a little soapy water after they have cooled makes clean up a breeze. They are dishwasher safe. As you would expect from stainless steel, there is no rusting. I have probably owned my original one for 20 months and it gets used nearly every day. They really stand up to a lot of use and I'm looking forward to using it for years to come.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2024I've used this pan since 2010 to bake cookies, roast vegetables, etc. It's a good pan, not great, and I'll explain why.
This pan is thin. That means it's good for heating up quickly in the oven, but it warps, with a bang. If the food is heavy enough, it won't, but only the heaviest cookies will weigh it down.
Stainless steel gives me the bake I want, as aluminum reflects too much heat not browning bottoms enough, and the dark-coated pans brown too much. Stainless makes the perfect balance in my baking opinion. Stainless pans/trays are relatively rare in the baking world; most are aluminum, or coated aluminum.
This pan is best for cookies. It will roast vegetables as well, but the grooves around the outside end up draining all the roasting oil, and then it burns onto the pan over time. I'm okay with that, as it ends up a cosmetic issue only.
Current pricing of $25 makes this pan not worth it. I paid about $16 in 2010, and about $14 in 2018 (yes the price went down over time). At the current price of $25, that's basically double, not worth it for a very thin sheet pan. Most other pans, although not stainless steel, are significantly cheaper. I wanted to get a third pan, but at this price, maybe not.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 21, 2015First I have to thank the Amazon reviewers for leading me to this pan. I have and treasure one just like it and despaired of ever finding another. A careful reading of comments about this pan and I realized it is exactly what I was looking for. The reason I love this light weight yet sturdy pan is that I often use it to bake recipes that require me to cut in the pan (i.e. baklava, family sized pizzas), so all of those lovely non-stick coated pans would be quickly ruined if I used them. I have a pan drawer full of brand name non-coated sheets that are heavy gauge combinations of aluminum and steel, but they are not dishwasher friendly (ugly dulling) and "heavy" is no misnomer, they are bulky and heavy. I needed another light weight and dishwasher safe workhorse, and this is it. Now, I have read that some people are very concerned about warping. I won't kid you, I do hear this pan "Ting" in the oven and there is a slight bit of warping. I will attest, however, that I have never had a sheet cake or any other baked good come out of the oven with a crack or any sign that the small amount of warping has harmed the baked good. Finally, I love this pan because I do not have to treat it with kid gloves when it comes to cleaning it. Since it is not a non-stick pan, that baked on cheese will need some soaking and scrubbing before the pan is placed in the dishwasher. I can do "no fear scrubbing" because this pan can take it. Sure, it will quickly lose its youthful mirror like appearance, but a well worn tool is beautiful in its own way.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 17, 2023The quality is good, you can certainly use it for baking - for cookies, dinner rolls, maybe for meats - but it is not a jelly roll pan. Look closely at the picture - the bottom is not completely flat, it has a groove around the edge (a trough?). When you take the jelly roll out of the pan, the shape of the pan leaves a little "hill" around the edge. It would do the same for sheet cakes - leave a bump around the edge.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 22, 2022Not solid stainless steel, but they are a good weight and also don't cost $200. I hand wash and dry them. They do the intended job and look nice.
