It was a two day job and the house ended up looking sparkling clean. However, some of our plants died from the "green chemicals", some of the areas still had mold or dirt on them, and we had to spend about $600.00 to have several of our pool screens replaced (coincidentally). In addition the chemicals also left hard-to-remove stains on all our windows and vehicles. So the whole thing wasn't any bargain and once again being an "early adopter" didn't do us any good.
So I decided (at age 65) to resume pressure cleaning everything myself. I already had a commercial pressure washer and the appropriate ladders but knew that the hardest to reach areas on the pool cage would require purchasing an extendable lance. The best one I found while doing my research was this AR North America Telescoping Lance. It came well-packaged, was easy to assemble, and appears well-made. Instead of having to haul my old butt up a ladder and holding on while the pressure washer tried to throw me off, I could fairly easily use my excess weight to anchor the wand by leaning into it and not worrying about taking a step back and forth now and then--something you can't do while on a ladder without disastrous results. Having no deadline imposed on me, I could work at my own pace and CAREFULLY do a great job without damaging anything. Total cost in addition to the new telescoping wand was the water used and the gas for the pressure washer. Total damage was NOTHING! It seems like anytime we hire anyone to do work on our property that something gets broken or someone gets hurt.
What is the biggest disadvantage of this AR North America Telescoping Lance? Other than the entry price, having this wand at full extension while using a 3,500 psi pressure washer can really give your shoulders and arms a workout. If you take your time and learn how to properly brace yourself, wear a back support and lean into the force generated, this telescoping lance will allow you to get the job done properly and give yourself a good workout at the same time. If you find yourself getting laughed at because of your fancy footwork while undertaking this task, give your clueless criticizer an opportunity to strap themselves in and see how well they do! In no time at all they should either fall into the pool or on the ground. Only then will they appreciate the nuances of the job you're doing.
