I love this record. In fact, the last three records from Bonobo have been quality releases. This one has a really low-key vibe with some great vocals and absorbing beats. It's definitely a different sound than Black Sands or Days to Come, but it still has the feel of those records. This one is a little bit colder, but there is a core of warmth here that you only find in the best artists.
Like I said, the early stuff was pretty good, but Bonobo has really outdone himself with the aforementioned releases up to this one. His sound has just the right amounts of ambient overtones mixed with vocals, bass, and whatever else. I disagree that this album gets stuck in its moodiness and does not allow the songs to breathe. I call that consistency, and though I suppose you would get tired of this sound if you listened to all of his records back to back, on its own this record supplies all the goods for a long car ride on rainy day. It's highly recommended.
