This jacket fit the bill. As soon as he pulled it out of the package, he was beaming from ear to ear. He put it on and didn't take it off until of course it made him way too hot. This is now his most favorite jacket. Best of all he says dog hair doesn't stick to it at all!
I'm 5'8", 175#, 32" waist with a reasonably athletic build. I'm in size hell in shirts...most Mediums look like I'm trying too hard and some/most Larges look baggy and sloppy. All that said, the Large size in this jacket fits great. I tried a medium on in a store and it was immediately too tight in the shoulders and chest. XL draped over me and Large was juuuuuuust right. If anything the large might be just a touch big but for layering that's what you want, and a medium was absolutely not an option. I've also read a lot of comments about the sleeves being too long...by no means do I have long arms at 5'8" and the sleeves on the L seem perfect.
Hope this helps. Awesome jacket to be sure.
Pro-tip: Before you wear this for the first time, turn it inside out (including the sleeves), and go nuts with a lint roller. I wore this to work for the first time, and when I took it off at my desk my shirt was covered in lint (luckily I keep a lint roller in my drawer). When I got home, I went through at least 5 lint roller sheets on the inside of the jacket until it wasn't noticeable anymore.
The material also is decent for water-repelling. Might not want to get stuck in a torrential downpour (especially since this doesn't have a hood), but in a light rain you'll be fine.
Two things I am not crazy about (but can live with) is that the material inside is very clingy. What I mean is, if you're wearing a long sleeved shirt, the sleeve gets dragged up your arm when you put the jacket on. Not the end of the world, but a bit of an annoyance. The second thing is the velcro on the cuffs. It is a rubber strap that comes across and doesn't necessarily stay well stuck when you try to make the cuff a little snugger. Again, not a deal-breaker, but the sleeves are already kinda long and many people will want to make the cuff openings a bit tighter so that your hands aren't up the sleeve.
Despite these couple minor gripes, and the somewhat high cost, I am still really pleased with this purchase. The jacket looks great and is really versatile. I'm sure it won't be my last.

Very good coat that lasted me thru 2015 winter as expected. If its really cold, I put on a hoody for extra protection. Read morePublished 7 days ago by evh347
