It's rare that I find [a dystopian story] I love as much as [Hunger Games] or Divergent, but this book succeeded! ...This was such an intriguing, original take on the "utopia" dystopian... Marin did a wonderful job at introducing us to this new world, and I can't wait to see where she takes us from here.
--Caitlin Haines, YA Books Central
[North to Nara] is a beautiful love story mixed in with a unique plot turns into an adventure... The concept is refreshing and readers of paranormal romance are sure to enjoy it. The descriptions are such that brings the book to life in the mind and it plays like a movie. Emotions jump off the page and the journey is one that will not be easily forgotten.--Lynn-Alexandria McKendrick, InD'Tale Magazine
The characters are well-developed and it is easy to feel their emotions very strong. The love between Micah and Neve is so intense and beautiful.

North to Nara] was unlike anything I have read before. The way the author grabbed me with her words, her world she created, and such amazing characters I was able to get lost so easily in this amazing world... An amazing five star read that I HIGHLY recommend.

I felt like it was a perfect balance of so many things: romance, sci-fi, dystopian politics, coming of age... The plot was driven entirely by the connection between Neve and Micah, but it never overshadowed the other elements, making every aspect of the novel so compelling. All of the characters are dynamic and multi-dimensional, especially Neve and Micah, and I was deeply invested in their paths.
And the world-building! Many familiar elements of U.S. history, politics, and culture, which seems like a really smart way to give readers exposition without bogging down the beginning of the book. And Marin layered so many unique contexts and perspectives into this new society that it felt like a completely fresh take, plausible and yet full of surprises. I’m so eager to see what else she builds into this world!
Finally, I gave in when I saw it super cheap on kindle. I think I paid like a dollar for it? Now, I'm upset it took me so long to read it. It's really good. I've stayed awake the last few nights reading it.
The closest thing I can compare North to Nara to is probably Delirium. I will be buying the physical copy and hoping that the sequel holds up to the amazing first installment. Dystopia is alive and well, thank you. 💚💖
It will open your eyes to a society in which they are living and what happens to people when they realize what is really happening to their privileges. I would highly recommend this book and am looking forward to the next one in the series

5 out of 5 stars
The story North to Nara (Crimson Sash Book 1) by Amanda Marin is an amazing book that I loved reading. It takes place in a dystopian world. I found that the author does a wonderful job of describing this world and how those in society live. The story had me feeling like I was right there with the characters, feeling and experiencing what they did. The book had me turning pages and wondering what is going to happen next. My emotions went up and down while reading this story. There are both heartbreaking and heartwarming moments. I loved reading about the characters of Neve Hall and Micah Ward. They are characters that you can’t help but grow to care about and want them to be happy. There is a choice that has to be made. Will Neve choose loyalty to the Nation or to her heart? What does the future hold for Neve and Micah? Read this book to find out. This is a story that had me thinking about it even after I had finished the last page. It will hook you in from the beginning. This is a book that I would recommend reading. It is the first story in a series and I look forward to reading the next one.
When Neve is given her empath is quickly retired, she is given Micah. As they grow closer, she knows that behind his smile, there is a story that tells a tale of loneliness and sadness. She knows empaths are not given the life of love and she has to decide does she follow her heart or the love of her nation?
Not many words stay with me, but, Behind the beauty is heartache…unless their love can save them, has become a favorite quote. An amazing five star read that I HIGHLY recommend.
Oh My Goodness..I loved this story, I kept trying to slow myself down so that it would not end quite so fast. Neve and Micah’s story was heartbreaking...their crime? Love and holy moly following them and their story was completely addictive. I want more like right now! LOL
This is a dystopian novel and is told in a way that's a bit different then Im used to. Everything in some parts felt so normal and real then theres the other parts that reminded me there was nothing normal about it.
I've only recently started choosing dystopian themed stories and this one went far and beyond my expectations. The cover is absolutely gorgeous and the story was no different. I loved the family aspect of this story (especially Rafe’s part in it) and the friendship between Neve and Tali which I hope is in future books of this series.
Oh I wish I could go on and on about the storyline but I'm not going to, I just can't wait for the next and to see what lies ahead for these two people.
The writing in this story is absolutely beautiful and the smooth flow will have me watching for anything and everything this author brings us!
LOVED LOVED LOVED IT!!!!!
