The Macgrough Clan is a bundle of laughs even when the going gets rough. I remember them fondly from "Wired for sound" another Macgrough book, and it felt like I was meeting old friends again. This is more of an action packed thriller, as Lori gets kidnapped and Hamish has to use all the tricks up his sleeve to get her back.

The characters have grown from the last time I met them. Though they're still a bit of a kick ass bunch, they have sobered down a lot and got more responsible. I love the accent (I actually hear it in my head as I read) To find Lori, Hamish has to travel all the way across to The U.S.A and Canada which are not his stomping grounds. He has to make do with what he can.

Cherime Mcfarlane makes the characters lovable and quirky, She knows a lot of information on varied subjects or she's really done a lot of excellent research. This book is a well written, fast paced adventure which you will love. It is totally unputdownable, so get ready to stay up late as the author take you to a thrilling finish. An exciting and engrossing read!

Cherime MacFarlane's novel NORTH BY NORTHWEST was an enjoyable and entertaining read. What happens when an artist travels to Seattle for an opening but gets abducted and suddenly falls off the face of the earth? A husband, guided by love, with the grit and determination of ten men on a quest to save his wife. Lori, the wife, strong, defiant, but also fragile and with child. A bad guy that will make you seethe. A story line that kept me wondering and hoping for the best, although there were times I could not see anyway for Lori to be saved. Also, if you are of Scottish ancestry, you will love this story.

North by Northeast: by Cherime MacFarlane

It is by far rather very difficult to write a good review on such a great book without giving off “spoilers” but I shall do it.
What happens when you are gifted with “foresight”, that deep, inner- intuitive faculty humans are blessed with, which allows us to penetrate beyond our animal limits, which makes our characteristic towards divine man, and it tells you something is about to go wrong, terribly wrong. What happens when you have this hunch about the one thing you hold most dear in the universe, your wife?

She is about to go off to Seattle, and it’s like half-way around the other corner of the earth on some invitation only art expedition, and you know, no guessing, you know something is going to go wrong, but it’s her passion and her dream, and it would kill you as much to be holding her back, what would you have done?

What would you do when you allow her to go and then through some strange occurrence she goes missing, yet you knew something would have gone wrong? What would you do? How would you save her?

With no large rescue party, one passionately in love husband gathers a handful of people and sets out to save his other half, for without that half of his soul, he is never again whole . . .

This is drama/suspense/mystery at its utmost finest. It doesn’t get any better than indie author Cherime MacFarlane.

I enjoy the easy writing style of this author and I love the character of Hamish and other members of the Bushmaster the author has created. This book picks up 4 years after the events of Wired for Sound. Hamish and Lori are happily settled in Scotland. Lori travels to Seattle for an art exhibition, where she is abducted. Hamish is prepared to move heaven and hell to get his wife back and is helped by the members of his old rock band.
Fast paced, the rescue mission takes them by land and water, from Seattle to an isolated area of Alaska.
Enjoyable read. I recommend reading Wired for Sound first to fully appreciate the story and characters, although it could easily be read as a stand alone.
