Wow! This book is pretty amazing from the beginning. One of my favorite book this year! The story made me laugh, smile and tear up a bit. The author weaved these characters perfectly throughout this journey. It's been awhile since I have liked every character in a book. This book does that! Desiree Lafawn rocked this book! I can't wait for the next one!
Corbin...what to say about him? Amazing..sweetheart..sexy...strong...yep all of the above plus more. He has got to be the sweetest thing I have read about in a while. His devotion and longing for Quinn is outstanding. I love the speech he gave her after they shared their first kiss. Whoa! It gave me goosebumps. I think I reread it a couple times. Corbin seems to like everyone and when he went grocery shopping for Quinn....awwww! Also the adding of the "books" he has in his room (for reference) was such a perfect add to the story! Every time I read one of those lines I got a ghost of a smile. Seriously Corbin is my new favorite guy!
Quinn seemed so discombobulated. Once her and Corbin meet again she seems to be able to function better because of him. I can only imagine how bad her last 10 years have been. What a mess! Her power Is foreign to her and she worries about letting it out and embarrassing her or hurting someone. Corbin and Quinn are electric together but the first meeting with Corbin was...OUCH!
Thoroughly enjoyable book filled with colorful characters. The green man is an amazing character. I don't think I have seen one like him before in a book. He is very mysterious and basically lives WITH the forest. His and Corbin's relationship is very cool! I enjoy reading everything he has done for these two people. Rose and Corbin crack me up! The way they joke around and the things they say to each other. So funny!
Weirdly while reading this we had a few ravens in our yard.....guess what I was thinking....yep I wanted my own Corbin.
Sorry everyone ....... Quinn might be the one holding all the power but Corbin steals the book.
This was a wonderful fantasy book! The transformation of Corbin’s character is something that really intrigued me and I don’t think I’ve seen anything like it, at least not that way. Quinn is someone who is totally relatable, especially in this day and age. She is so lost, and everyone just tells her that what she thinks as real, are just delusions and she is medicated heavily. Unfortunately, we live in an era where medication seems to be the first answer. It is beautiful to see the person she becomes throughout the book.
The other characters are also wonderful, I felt at home with these people, I would love to visit this place. I wish there a green man living near me. Who knows, maybe there is?
The story itself was wonderful as well. Travelling to a forest essentially in the middle of nowhere, that screams magic and fairy tale-like things. Who doesn’t want to visit a place like that? I do admit that the beginning seemed to drag a little for me, the struggle of the characters, especially Quinn at this current time. I understand making sure we knew what all Quinn is and has gone through that brought her to this decision to visit this place, but it made me worry that the whole book was going to be a bit whiny, for lack of better word. But I do not give up on books easily and I was very pleasantly surprised at how good the story became. I definitely recommend this book for all fantasy lovers and those who want a Northwoods of their own.
Seriously pick up this book and follow this up and coming author. You will not regret it!
