I decided to use a medicine dropper to pour the mixture into the molds and I am so glad I did because I barely made a mess and the gummies turned out perfect. A dropper is especially useful when pouring the mixture into the worm molds since they are fairly narrow and tricky.
I used the recipe that came with the manual but instead of using 4 packets of unflavored gelatin, I used 3 packets; with this change, the gummies were perfect! They weren't too chewy and had the consistency of gummy candies, not jell-o. The kids and I loved the flavor; they even remarked how they tasted better than the store-bought gummies. I completely agree with them! They have just the right amount of sweetness without being overwhelming and I could see myself tweaking future recipes to make more deluxe flavors. By the way, the giant gummy bear mold was a hit in my household!
If you want to make your own gummy candies, I recommend just buying gummy/silicone molds and using your refrigerator to set the gummies...you don't need anything else in this set besides the molds to make the gummy candies.
My suggestion to anyone thinking of buying this cumbersome and "need to find a place to keep it item" is to invest instead in silicone molds. Look up tutorials on youtube for making gummies and do it in a pot on the stove.
My 12 year old was excited for this ad she spend her own Amazon gift cards for it after Christmas and she was pretty dissapointed.
without my knowledge to make the huge bear mold enclosed. This is a great bargain to get lots of molds with out purchasing
single units. so so so easy. I use the healthy version with gelatin from Great Lakes-
1 cup water (divided)
½ cup (8 tablespoons) gelatin powder
Few tbs of honey - u could leave this out
1 grape juice or any juice such as apple
1 cup ground fruit You can defrost frozen berries and puree them with a blender or immersion blender=make sure they are room temps when added or it will clump
Dont forget to have your ground fruit ready to go at room temps-you could also use a blender
Boil ½ cup water.
Place ½ cup cool water in a medium sized bowl
Add ½ cup gelatin powder and stir quickly to create a paste.
Be fast and add the ½ cup boiling water and stir with some gusto.
if you want-
Add juice and watery fruit mix well. stir with a spoon or whisk or fork, even a immersion blender.
Be fast and pour in your mold!!! it will start to set upl..
