From the Inside Flap
Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorskii fled Russia in 1918 in the aftermath of the October Revolution. After traveling through Norway and England, he settled in Paris, where he died in 1944. The United States Library of Congress purchased his work in 1948, but it was only recently laboriously restored. Nostalgia showcases these restored masterpieces of early color photography that are a milestone in Russia’s cultural history.

The book is of excellent quality and reasonably priced for what you get. Solid construction and binding with quality glossy paper and sharp color on the photographs. One will notice that many of the photographs have slight off centering in one or more colors which is a result of this early color process of aggregating multiple screened exposures; it is not a printing error.
The best photographs in my opinion are the human subjects, especially those that feature traditional costume.
This book is a treasure and has received high compliments from everyone who has looked through it so far.
The images are breathtakingly vivid and beautiful. They have the shock value of time-travel - just amazing!
