This book is really different. I loved her hero, he was a typical bad-boy (justified) He comes from a very bad family and everything that can goes wrong does. He finally turns his life around and tries to do good by everyone. He falls for the town's rich girl. She is selfish, self-centered, spoiled, stupid and a bitch. Up to this point, I was doing okay with the story.

Then his ex-wife shows up on his doorstep 9 months pregnant and addicted to everything there is. He takes her in, pays her hospital bills, buys her clothes, puts his life on hold and the baby is born. Now he is stuck with a big medical bill, his ex and her baby by some guy she was living with who, by the way, threw her out.

Then he starts making some headway with the rich girl but she wants him to quit trying to save the world and get on with his life. So, he wakes up one morning and the ex has let town, left the baby, and stole his suped up street rod. DOES he call the police and turn her in for abandonding the baby and stealing his car??? NO, he lets her get away with it. SAP at this point.

He keeps the baby and starts to love her and be a father to her. NOTHING legal and still hasn't had the ex arrested. I'm really starting to lose patience. Then, his brother stabs him 3 times and he wants to NOT FILE charges. No choice, the police handle the matter. Then the ex shows up and her boyfriend HITS the babysitter (I think that would cause an arrest of assualt) The ex still has his car (theft charges), and he and his brother, etc. all sit around crying instead of calling the police and having both of them arrested. I am really losing patience at this point.

I really enjoyed this story! And I'm still excited that I really enjoyed this story! I was looking for a light-hearted read that had substance to it, but not too much depth that I felt overburdened by it and couldn't appreciate the humor. I found what I was looking for!

I didn't know how to take the story at first - rich girl needing to be saved by the guy from the other side of the tracks. Well, when "Miss Rich" decided to take matters into her own hands, I knew this was going to be a fun story and I was excited for the adventure!

I enjoyed that the story isn't one sided. I loved that the characters have so many layers and complexities to them, just as we do in real life. I loved that they each had their quirks and nuances and beliefs. I appreciated how each character tried to stay true to who they were while balancing what was really going on their lives.

I became part of this story, this town. It seemed like there was always room for one more and everyone was accepted who needed to be. The friends stayed together and supported each other through realistic life endeavors. The author did a fabulous job showing the struggles and decisions the characters faced while maintaining normalcy and a sense of humor.

Some of the antics/scenes/wording became a little bit too much here and there, but that's okay because overall the story felt blissfully normal and welcoming. There were also a few seeds planted that weren't tended to as well - questions left unanswered. I think one more round of edits would've figured all that out.

Again, I really enjoyed this story and loved getting to know Travis and Arden!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and for this being the author's first book....I thought she did an excellent job! I totally adored Travis. Even though he and his 3 brothers didn't have the greatest childhoods growing up, after a really rocky start, he turned out to be a really decent man. He ended up being a man with just the right mix of masculine, sensitive, sexiness and sweetness to him. So really...what's not to like? And he was so funny, too. The conversations between him and Arden while they were stranded those few days in the snow storm, was beyond hysterical. I found myself really laughing so hard at some of the sparring between these two. I also loved the way that Travis was always so easily sidetracked by his libido, which is something I always find rather funny.

I also thought the secondary story involving his brother, Dustin and Emma was really good, too. I would have also liked to find out how the relationship between Alice and Vince turned out, or what happened between Shannon and Russ.

The reason for my 4 star rating, instead of the full five...was because of a few minor legalities, I just didn't understand. Like why did they not call the authorities when Tonya abandoned the baby? And why not report the car stolen? Or how about calling DCF the minute they found her and the baby living a life in total squalor, and with a man who is violent no less? And on top of all that...there was even evidence that Tonya was still shooting up. *smh* Or why when that man slapped Emma, why did they call the cops and charge him with assaut and battery? And I also thought that Arden's ex- finance should have been reported to the authorities, too. So many times they could have taken legal steps, and chose not to. That just didn't make any sense to me.
