Editorial Reviews
Review
Not A Chance warns of the destruction of science by scientists and others abuse of philosophy, ontology, and epistemology. R. C. Sproul offers a cure, a cure that is both easy to understand and easy to apply -- Hugh Ross, author of The Creator and the Cosmos
Not a Chance is Sproul at his best, which is very good. Reference to chance explains nothing, as he shows. But it is an essential factor in the struggles of atheism to appear rational in the face of the world where we live. He shows secularism to be what it now is: a desperate faith -- Dallas Willard, Department of Philosophy University of Southern California
People need a serious attempt to analyze the scientific uses of the term chance, as well as the implications of these uses for ones overall world view. Not a Chance meets this need admirably -- J.P. Moreland, author of Christianity and the Nature of Science
Representative of R.C. Sproul at his best - a gifted communicator explaining difficult concepts with clarity, passion, and humor -- Theological Educator
Sproul has effectively laid to rest the bugaboo of chance that threatens the intelligibility of science and the possibility of theology -- Norman Geisler, author of Origin Science
Sproul has given us a powerfully argued, landmark work, in what has been an unremitting conflict between chance and agency. Here science, philosophy, and theology meet -- Ravi Zacharias, author of The Shattered Visage of Atheism

Clear and logical. Describes the unfounded presuppositions that led to major errors in many disciplines, all of which contributed to the current disintegration of Western society.

A leading theologian points out and descries the "faith" many scientists place in statistics as scientific explanation. Mr. Sproul points out what should be, but apparently is not, obvious: Statistics describe, but cannot, by definition, explain.
He takes to task those scientists, beginning mainly with Niels Bohr, who seek to substitute probability, or chance, for real scientific explanation.
Sproul cannot, as a serious theologian, accept the proposition that the universe is governed by chance. He points out that scientists cannot and should not, as scientists, do so either.
I have yet to hear of an adequate reply ever being made to this particular argument.
Erudite, well written. Compelling reading.

This book is well written. It covers many philosophical thoughts that leads to what is "chance". Several chapters will require rereading because of it deep thougtful concepts. It worth your time reading.
