“Can you ever forgive me? Because you have to. I can’t live if you don’t.”
Gail is trying to do what she thinks is best in going back to school and forgetting all about Scott. Only when she gets the shock of her life, she realizes that’s no longer going to be an option. When her and Scott meet again, there is pain and confusion and a mountain of issues to overcome. Just when they start to work through them and everything seems to be okay, Gail’s worst fears come true.
“I don’t know how long we spend kissing because time has stopped and the world is still. I’m certain everyone everywhere is just frozen in place waiting for us to finish. But then he pulls away, and cold rushes into the space between us like an avalanche.”
We’re left on cliffhanger, and I’m dying to know what’s going to happen in the next book.
This is a poignant, emotionally gripping read that will tear at your heartstrings and have you crying right along with the characters. I could really feel Gail’s insecurity and despair on such a deep level, I have to give credit to the author for evoking such powerful emotions. It’s not something that is easily captured, and she has done a great job of that.
“We’re not in the apartment anymore, but on a beach somewhere, a glorious sunset spilling across the sky all around us. Which is how it will stay forever. Because nothing can touch us when we’re together, no storms, no winds, no raging black waves, just the sun setting in hues of yellow, lilac, red, pink, and orange against a calm, cloudless sky.”
This is shaping up to be a great series, and I would highly recommend it.
