I found this movie very engrossing, very suspenseful. There's the hit man who strolls through an office late at night when only a few employees remain and pick off people, one by one. Why exactly he executes his victims, it's not clear until the end...and even then, it's not the most coherent explanation, that is one down side.
The actor who plays the assassin did a good job - very spooky in his expressionless efficiency. Tom, the young man at the center of the plot is believable in his character who is ethical and hard-working, and is not yet jaded by the less well-meaning people in his profession. He gets fired early on in the movie (so not a spoiler) and is disappointed and somewhat down, but he has it in perspective, knows he will survive it.

Later, when he returns to the office at night for something, he gets intrigued by suspicious behavior of strangers passing off briefcases and then he has his long, drawn out encounter with the tall killer who wears a nice suit and says very little. Tom turns out to be awful good at composing himself faced off with such danger, thinks on his feet (mostly) and dodges a lot of bullets. Almost TOO good for a young paralegal, but...that's the way of movies, yeah?

The plot seemed very believable, and brings to light the lack of integrity of pharmaceutical companies. I also thought the acting was very well done. The killer had little moments where he seemed to have a bit of dry humor, and I thought that helped make him brilliantly unsettling and unpredictable. And at the same time, you pick up that he's not just a psycho killer with no purpose, in fact, he didn't expect to find people in the building at all. JJ did a fantastic job selling the character, and making him interesting.

This is a thriller with a simple setup: Good Guys trapped in an office building with Bad Guys. It’s a challenge to keep a premise that is confined to one location fresh and engaging, but the filmmakers pulled it off here. Max Minghella is very likable in the lead role as Tom, a guy who’s sort of down and out (lost his job) yet sort of up and at ‘em (he has a new love). In other words, he’s not a stereotypical character, but just a real guy. The filmmakers manage to throw in enough twists and turns with the characters and with Tom using his wits to outsmart the bad guys that the film moves quickly enough that you forget you’re inside an office building the entire time. Mostly suspense with a little bit of action and good performances.

Why did they end this? ? The actors were well cast, the show was refreshingly clever, original. How disappointing. If you watch (worth your time!) you’ll crave another season or more.

Good movie. One of the main characters, Christian Clemensen, was my neighbor when I grew up. We're both from Humboldt, Iowa. It was obvious he was a genius, even at a young age. He could have been anything he wanted to be. I figured he'd be a doctor, but he always like acting. Great guy, I wish we would have stayed in touch.

4.0 out of 5 stars Die Hard - The Indi Mini Tiny Corporate Version
Reviewed in Japan on June 7, 2023
I enjoyed it. It's the sort of movie though that could have benefitted from an extra $50 million or so in their budget, an A-lister star or two and about an extra hour of length..

Die Hard - But with lower tech, lower firepower, less profanity (one f-bomb), less known actors, less violence, smaller stakes...etc.

But, like I said, I enjoyed it. The actors all did well. It was great considering the resources they had to work with. I'm a big Joe Johnston fan, btw. He's the reason why I picked this one up.

P.S. I don't give 5 stars to movies with profanity...just in case you're curious.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful "edge of your seat" thriller
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on August 19, 2014
When I read the first review of this film I almost changed my mind about buying it. It's such a well written, full review - how could it be wrong? But fortunately I decided to throw caution to the wind, especially as this film was directed by Joe Johnstone of Captain America fame.
Both my wife and myself thought this film was well worth the £8 we paid for it. In fact we've now watched it twice and have lent it to a couple of friends.
It was a good story. The old fashioned kind that keeps you on the edge of your seat without relying on gimmicks for its thrills. It was suspenseful with some very unexpectedly scary moments and it kept us guessing to the end!

I watched this film as I am a big fan of Joe Johnston the director ( Jumanji and Captain America). This film is of a different genre, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. There was plenty of action and suspense and I was gripped until the very end and even had some popcorn left!

4.0 out of 5 stars A really good thriller with plenty of suspense and Hitchcockian moments

A really good thriller with plenty of suspense and Hitchcockian moments. The film is not perfect but is very entertaining and keeps you on the edge of your seat. The script is sharp and witty and the two lead male characters deliver in all areas. Thoroughly recommended.
