Purchased this book and gave it to the teenager self. Rather than filter the information about the perils of driving, through the parent, ask the teen to read it. Especially why the book came to be. Book has excellent information, and if a teen is old enough to drive, then driving responsibly is a must and this book lays it out.

I read this book while my son was taking the classroom portion of drivers education and I'm really glad I did. Sometimes I think we go on autopilot as parents and don't always consider everything that needs considering. As an example, I've been looking forward to the day my older son could drive so he and his younger brother can ride to school together. After reading Tim's book, I'm rethinking how soon I'm actually going to allow this to happen, if at all now, based on his research. Another example, I know I should check in with my kids and ask the usual questions: who, where, how, etc. but now I think I'll be asking for more details about routes and times. It's definitely worth a read, especially if it's your oldest who's going to be driving soon. Thanks, Tim!

A great resource for a parent of a soon-to-be teen driver. My daughter is years away from driving but this book already gives me many ways that I can prepare both her and my wife and I as we move closer to her eligibility for a license. I can say without hesitation that, after reading this book I have COMPLETELY changed the way in which we will train our daughter and monitor her driving. Without having read this book I would have handled it very poorly. I am grateful to Mr. Hollister and expect that this book will be sort of a "bible" for my wife and I during our daughter's early driving years.

This book strikes a terrific balance between providing information on all the relevant and necessary topics -- including some most people wouldn't have thought about -- and not filling in with any fluff. So it is a very efficient and effective take on the subject. It is well written (or well edited) and reads very smoothly. I am so sorry that Mr. Hollister's terrible loss was the impetus for the writing of this book, but at least this outcome allows him to help many other people do more to prevent similar tragedies. Everyone who has or will have a teen driver they love (parents, grandparents, aunts & uncles, family friends) should buy, read, share, and discuss this book.

Being a parent of a teen driver is a constant worry. Well, don't just worry, get informed and learn how to help your kid transition into becoming a safe driver. Hollister's well-researched book shows that teens who drive are more at risk - from neurological, developmental, social, and other forces - than most of us realize. Then it tells you, clearly and concisely, the steps you can take to keep your kid safe while you guide and support his or her becoming a safe driver. Highly recommended, and if you care enough about this topic to be reading this review, you should just go ahead and buy the book!
