It took a long while and more heartache than they wanted to endure, but thanks be to God, things finally came together for them and they were able to make a family with Leah's foster son, Jackson.
In addition to his foot, Austin lost his faith. God simply wouldn’t allow that kind of death and destruction, so there must be no God. Austin’s brother Chad is still stationed in Afghanistan and talks with him weekly. Chad knows his brother is struggling.
Auston decides to return to Hope Springs, the town where he and his brother were born and spent part of their childhood years. He rents a house next door to Leah, an early 30-something who has decided God wants her to be single and has taken on the biggest project of her life – 12-year-old Jackson, a foster child who’s bounced around nine different foster homes, stays in trouble in school, and is determined not to love anyone.
Austin becomes the connecting link between the boy and Leah, and Leah and Austin both discover romantic connections developing between them. But Austin still struggles with his anger and bitterness, and Leah, having been hurt once in romance, is resisting the idea of romance.
“Not Until Christmas Morning,” part of the Hope Springs series by Valerie Bodden, is a well-done, moving story of three broken people circling each other, each afraid to touch and afraid to be touched.
Leah puts every man in the “friend” category because God must want her to be single. She decides to foster an older child with plans of adoption. She is given Jackson, a rebellious 12 year old who has abandonment issues and doesn’t trust anybody or feel that anybody will stay in his life. Austin and Jackson bond over a baby squirrel and Leah and Austin start developing feelings towards each other. However, Austin has anger and trust issues and Leah doesn’t want to get involved with anybody. All three of the characters need to learn to trust each other and trust God. This book is part of a series but I had no problem reading it without having read the other stories. *I received this book as an advanced reader copy and was only asked to give an honest review which I have done.
finally realize, their worth and potential through God's eyes. I wasn't disappointed. A great story for anyone who has felt like they were too broken or too scarred. I look forward to reading more from this author.
