From the Author
"Lisa, this is not a song. It's a children's book." Those are the words that started it all. I write song lyrics and collaborate with musicians as a hobby. When my good friend Lori planted the idea in both our minds that the song lyrics that I showed her could be a book, the idea began for the story, NOT YET
Lori and I rewrote over and over to get the story and the illustrations the way we envisioned. NOT YET is a labor of love between good friends. Lori and I both have a passion for bettering the lives of children, and we hope to do that through our writing. We want children to believe in their dreams, work hard, not be afraid of mistakes, and fulfill their dreams no matter what. We want children everywhere to know that we believe in them! ~Lisa Cox
From the Back Cover
A little girl, Lorisa, faces the challenges of her day with her younger brother looking up to her and her dog, Doodle, by her side. She demonstrates for our readers what a growth mindset looks like. She has big dreams and an attitude of positive thinking that is going to take her into the future with all kinds of possibilities.
Lorisa models for children that they have purpose and worth even if they make mistakes. She teaches them to enjoy the process of growing up. Not Yet encourages children to dream big. The last pages of the book are designed for children to discover their own dreams. Lorisa reads the bracelet she wears each day to remind her to keep trying. She'll get there. You bet! Is she there? Not Yet!
