Not You It's Me Audible Audiobook – Unabridged

Gemma Summers is unlucky in love. She's known it since third grade, when her first crush blew a spitball into her hair, and a decade-long string of bad dates, boring sex, and abysmal morning afters has done nothing to improve her prospects. But when a random radio call-in contest lands her courtside tickets to the hottest playoff game of the season, Gemma's luck may finally be on the upswing, even if it doesn't exactly seem like it when the dreaded Jumbotron kiss cam lands on her and her date, who's too busy ignoring her to notice.

Chase Croft doesn't date. Despite ample opportunity as Boston's most eligible bachelor, the reformed bad boy would rather put his energy into taking over the family business than weed through a world of gold diggers to find an honest woman. But when the beautiful girl in the seat next to him becomes a courtside spectacle at the hands of her loser boyfriend, he can't help but step in and save the day.

Same cover as "Hard Body Rock" by Nora Flite
Ok. I liked the book. But I don't usually write reviews. I have a question though. Does any realize this is the same cover as "Hard Body Rock" by Nora Flite? Except with a tattoo? Think someone should ask for a refund on cover images.

I was a lucky reader because I received Not You, It's Me as an ARC from Julie Johnson in return for an honest review. So, here it's is... This being Julie Johnson's fourth novel I knew right away that I would not be disappointed because she is a FANTASTIC writer and I ALWAYS one-click all of her books no, need to sample them they're just that good. Not You, it's Me did not disappoint. Yet again, the writing is marvelous, she takes you right into the book and you get a clear vision of the characters. Gemma is the funniest character Julie has ever written she doesn't come with a dark past, she's bright and lively and so damn funny, AND she had the BEST friends ever in a book! This book was a fun read, like laugh out loud funny and the romance was there too, BUT I do have one criticism and that is in Julie's past books there was more angst in them, I've always held my breath at some point of her books, this one not really. That's not a bad thing, I know, but I just like a little more cat and mouse chase, BUT that's ME! The book was still very good. I liked Chase Croft he's a great catch and he's most definitely Prince Charming, to Gemma's Cinderella likeliness...Again it's a GREAT story, like a modern day fairytale! The setting is awesome, the way Julie describes Boston it'll make you want to visit as soon as you're done reading the book, she is a master of description and the details are so on point. So, the bottom line is this... One, do you want to read a stand alone book with NO, I repeat NO bulls*** CLIFFHANGERS? (God, I HATE those!) Two, a book that's over 20 pages long (those are SO annoying! I mean come on!) Lastly, do you want to read a book that takes you on a whimsical, magical, hilarious, romantic adventure? One that will make you forget your problems of the day and make you laugh and smile? If you answered yes to any of these, then what are you waiting for? Click and start reading! :) Yes, I received this as a ARC BUT I also one-clicked this book on the first day it was available for pre-order, so it was a win, win for me! Bravo Julie!! Looking forward to see what you come up with next!!

I know you should never judge a book by its cover…I did it anyways. Sigh/ I thought this would be a cute rom-com lighthearted adventure and intrigue. It was not, there were greater depths of violence, assault, kidnapping, weighty emotional matters and danger that had I been better prepared for the content would not have bothered me as much.
Kind of like when you bite into a piece of cake expecting banana and instead taste the tart-sweet biting flavor of lemon. Both are good but if you’re not expecting it can short circuit your brain a moment or three.
This was a great story, well told, enjoyable and worth the purchase. Beware the TWs.

I love when I find a new writer that tells a story well, creates and develops character thoroughly and builds a plot that not only works, but keeps me interested! This is my first Julie Johnson book.... I read the reviews; I was actually most interested by the negative reviews. A 1 star reviewer decried that the author stole the story and characters from "50 Shades" (albeit better written she says)....I immediately one clicked and purchased! Why? Because, while I've read hundreds of books I loved more than 50, I still enjoyed the story and the characters! Isn't that the whole point of why we keep reading, buying, writing....etc, of what many would consider the same story over and again. Honestly, while I could identify many similarities to other book series and authors (one of my favorites the author mentions and kudos to her), there is plenty of difference that allows the author's own unique voice to shine. Gemma is just an adorable "loon." Chase is alpha sweet and funny in his own right. The "best friends" are hilarious, and the villains familiar, but still just well done. Maybe I was just ready for this well written, uncomplicated, perfectly executed romance with just the right amount of poignancy and suspense.....after reading a few duds? Who knows? But, I have downloaded the rest of JJs library and look forward to reading her earlier works. I also, hope to read about Phoebe in the future, and Parker and Knox (Phoebe and Knox?)...

This story literally has EVERYTHING, from rags to riches, subtle and not so subtle comedy, dramatic tragedy, mystery, full blown soap opera family problems, love of every kind, hard of the most insidious type...and all out together in a constantly moving plot that never lets the reader catch a breath.

Its been a while since i have read a story that i couldn't out down.. one that drew mw in and held me captive!

I so desperately tried to stop reading it so i could lok fowaed to coming back and junmping into the story again and have that to look foward to. But sadly i couldnt put it down! Jahahah

It was all kinds of wonderfull . all kinds of perfection. The only not fantastic part is the confusing back story with chase and his family and sometimes her friends wernt understanding when she didn't get back to them. Well gee shes only been unavaible!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of Contemporary Romance/ Best Book Boyfriends
Reviewed in Canada on August 16, 2015
This is my first Julie Johnson book and seriously will not be my last. After a very dull period of trying to find a great contemporary romance book (and seriously I have read some real duds lately) this one just fell right into my lap. And I am so thrilled. My cheeks STILL hurt from grinning like a fool for most of this book. First, Chase is one of the most swoon worthy characters. I quite like my alpha males but sometimes this kind of rubs the feminist in my wrong. Not Chase. Best book boyfriend. He's alpha but with such a great sense of humour and sweetness. Second, Gemma is such a fantastic quirky heroine. And I love when my heroines have a strong sense of self. And third, the dialogue. Holy hell does Julie Johnson write FANTASTIC repartee. That is what had me grinning and often laughing.

Now, I like me some contemporary romances that lean towards erotic romances. This is light on the erotic part but there is still such an amazing chemistry between Chase and Gemma I did not miss anything. In fact, the sex was hot maybe ever hotter than some erotic romances I have read recently because the chemistry between these two was so fantastic. SO I have had an epiphany of sorts. No matter how "light" or "heavy" the sex is, it is the CHEMISTRY between the two main characters that is the most important thing. And Julie Johnson NAILS IT.

One last thing, the surrounding cast of characters were so much fun it really filled the story and book out. Now excuse while I go and see what else this fabulous writer has written.
Swoon worthy five stars.
