I used this game as a teaching aide in my music classroom. The baby baby-grand piano is very small and sometimes difficult to play especially if you have large fingers, but I got around that issue as well as the one about the piano being so low in volume that it was difficult to hear in large crowds by placing stickers (that easily come off) on my REAL piano. So not only could you hear it better and be able to play a real size piano my students could start to play real songs on a real piano. The songs are definitely dated for the over 40 bunch, but with some creativity and a stack of cards, you could update it for kids today. We loved playing it at home and at school.

This is a nifty toy game of "Name that tune." It comes with a toy electronic piano and a giant deck of business cards. On each business card is the key portion of the melody from a song (or songs, I don't quite remember) listed out in an easy to read music notation. The notes are signified with the numerals that are printed on the toy piano keys and the rhythm is signified with dashes for pauses so that even the musically uneducated can perform the tunes, more or less, on the toy piano. That creates several fun challanges: it's fun to try to play the song, it's fun to try to guess the song, it's fun to try and pierce the performer's mangling and recognize the tune, it's fun to be amazed at how well your three old can play, and it's way fun to bust a gut laughing at how badly grandma can torture "Yesterday."

The deck of cards is amazing in that it contains the melody of 600 songs from TV, Broadway, movies, standards, and pop. That was a lot of work to put that together! It's cool to be able to play those songs.

The one problem with this set is it seems like it would be a good idea to take it to some raucous thanksgiving day party and play it with 20 people. The problem is that any such party is going to be noisy and the little toy piano isn't very loud. It's about as loud as a music box. At home in the bedroom it seems fine, but in a party with a bunch of hysterical people it's drowned out and people constantly annoy me by saying "Can't it go any louder?"

The songs included would be unknown to most people under 40 for the most part. It's a great game and I love it. It's a little challenging to get the songs played the tiny grand piano that comes with it but one can learn if sufficiently motivated. You'd have to know and love music to want this game, of course. If you do then this game might be for you. I'm glad I bought it!
