Why do people cheat?
Note to Self is an action-packed, genuinely fun story that gets to the heart of why people cheat. But be prepared.
As three high school friends reunite after their divorces, they decide that a trip to Vegas is what they need to heal their broken hearts. But sometimes, a heart needs to discover itself in order to move on, and what we believe we'd never do, we end up doing.
The ending of this story? Without giving it away? Never say never . . .
From the Author
. . . a note about Note to Self
I was in the middle of querying agents for my paranormal thriller, Behind Gin Lane, and getting totally frustrated in the process. Without delving too deeply into why I stopped querying agents, I decided that maybe I should put Behind Gin Lane on hold and focus on a genre that was a little more in demand at the time. So I prayed and asked God to give me guidance on what I should write about. Then, one afternoon while in the kitchen doing dishes, the words NOTE TO SELF popped into my head, and when I heard it, I knew it was a sign and ran to my laptop and began writing.
Note to Self was written in three weeks--something unheard of for me. It was downloaded into my head as if someone was dictating it to me; maybe a spirit who had quite a bit to say about her past life. Of course, I spent a great deal of time editing it, and when I was done, I queried once again; only to have a big New York agent write me to say that she loved it, "wouldn't change a thing", but that she and I were not a good match. To date, even though I questioned her remarks, I still don't have a clue as to what she meant.
Then it came to me. Self publish. So that's what I did.
I want to just mention a little somethin' about the premise of the story.
Note to Self isn't your typical contemporary romance. It focuses on real-life issues that many middle-aged single women face. The fact that the three main characters have been jilted by cheating spouses and are now over 40 and back in the dating scene is just the tip of the iceberg. Letting go of their pasts, facing loneliness, dealing with feelings of unworthiness, and ageing all play a major role in their search to finding themselves.
When the story peaks, the girls find themselves in a situation where they have to decide if love is worth risking everything they have, which lends truth to the saying: never say never.
If you've ever suffered through infidelity and had your heart broken, and if you're of age where the single scene just isn't working anymore, and if you love gorgeous Las Vegas crime bosses, payback, and secret pacts, Note to Self is for you. But be prepared. The ending won't be what you're expecting . . .

First I'd like to say that Note to Self is a story which I believe resonates with women who've been betrayed. It's a great story but not sure if it's for anyone who's never had the experience of being cheated on and then dumped. Valentine's characters are hysterical and so real that I really believed in them. The first few chapters is where Valentine sets the stage. It's all about the reasons why the three girls reunite. After that, the story takes off and they find themselves in Las Vegas. And I will not say another word except to say that the last twelve chapters had my stomach in a knot. Fantastic how Valentine finished it off.
Read this book if you're divorced and single and trying to get some clarity. The main character, Jessie Baldwin, gives real advice and insight as to why people cheat. Loved this book!
This is the 3rd book I've read from Valentine De Francis , and I'm hooked on this writer , who knows how to start a story and carry you through it till the end , detailed to connect to your emotions , and let's not leave out the hysterics she adds in as well .
Her books are hard to put down , and will leave you with a sense of knowing that all our thoughts are relative , we really aren't much different in our thinking , wants and desires ! I'm looking forward to her next book ...
I can't thank the author enough for telling the truth about dating over 40 and how devastating it can be when coming out of a long relationship to someone who you believed was your soul mate. Great job, Valentine. Ten stars for you.
Her story will have you crying, laughing and wanting more. I could not put the book down. A great book for women going through divorce. She hits a HOME RUN on what women feel after being dumped by a husband for a younger woman or for the same sex. Her story tells how they overcome their self doubts and depression after divorce three women in their mid life brought back together after years apart all for the same reasons Divorce.
