Rosa Arcade’s motivational self-help book is short but concise. It is clear that each message has a deep meaning to the author, and that the author has whole-heartedly used each of the suggested activities to move past negative feelings. The book is written to help someone move past negative thoughts about oneself as well as deal with hurtful anger aimed at people who have been not been nurturing or supportive. While the advice seems very obvious to a more experienced adult, it is sage advice that any caring adult would want a teenager or young adult to heed.
I thought the activities would be quite helpful to someone on the same recovery path as it seems the author took. The daily positive affirmations and thanksgivings are a lovely way for anyone to start their day. I also liked Ms. Arcade’s observation on behaving in a way that would reflect how you want to be remembered as well as her notes on keeping negativity to yourself when developing a new relationship. Rosa Arcade provides particularly good advice on removing drama (and drama queens) from your life, honoring others and living with integrity.
A well-written, thoughtful book that is good for all ages.
