This short "book" is very disappointing. There are only a few fuzzy photos of the actual building. All photos are black and white, so it is impossible to actually get any idea of the details. There are a few black and white photos of paintings which are worthless and impossible really appreciate without color. A non-color photo of a stained glass window is pretty useless. The printing is very large print - almost as if someone was assigned to write a report and was trying to stretch the number of pages without doing any more work. Overall, this comes across as someone's 5th grade history report with very long sections directly quoted from other written material and black & white photos copied from brochures. I doubt it would have gotten a grade of "C".

I wish I had paid closer attention to the other reviews of this book because sadly they are all pretty accurate. Because of the recent tragic events that happened at Notre-Dame I wanted to learn more about this magnificent cathedral and perhaps more of what it was like before it lost some of it’s grand structure. This book is extensive in his historic research although I’m not sure how much of it is factual or not yet. The most disturbing thing is the black and white photos which does a horrible injustice to the beauty and majesty of this beautiful cathedral. I wish I hadn’t purchased it. Kind of a waste of time and money.

This "book" looks like it was printed from some online website of Charles River Editors. No page numbers, very large childish print, no cohesive documentary of the church's history. Pages in the "book" even say click on this "link" to get more "free" books at this website. What a scam. Looks like it was printed in Lexington KY the day I ordered it. I'd like a full refund.

this book was horribly basic and poorly edited. it even had multiple blank pages. A waste of time spending the 30 minutes needed to read it. The pictures were also poor quality. shame

As I watched the news coverage of today's horrific fire, I wanted to buy this book to learn about the cathedral, and to see some of the photos of its most famous artifacts that sadly I won't likely visit in person. What loss.

I purchases this book immediately after the fire at Notre Dame de Paris on April 15, 2019. I wanted to see some of the history and imagery of the cathedral. Not only was the book disappointing in not living up to its subtitle, it is very poorly constructed in all ways but its bindery. The text lacks a smooth flow; it jumps from topic to topic without proper separation or linkage; people from history that are not known to a non-historian are mentioned without adequate explanation. The photographs are not very sharp; they seem to have gone through format conversion(s) before reaching the printed page. The printed text retains instructions to "click here"; apparently the book was assembled from online material or an ebook.

This is a very poorly written, poorly produced booklet that reads more like a high-school student's report for a history class assignment. Don't waste your money. There is nothing to recommend it. Plain and simple.

If you like history, you will like this book.
If you like architecture, you will like this book.
If you like a souvenir book, it is in black and white, but is big enough to place on the coffee table.
If you are a photographer, the few puctures in the book are not exactly the best quality.
My recommendation is 5-stars because I DO like history, architecture and the memories of my July 2018 trip to Paris. This book has absolutely NOTHING on real life.
Buy the book. See for yourself.

Don't bother with this one.

This is not a book, it is more of a pamphlet churned out cheaply. It seems to have been written by a college student as an assignment and someone decides to "publish" it. There other pamphlets on other topics by the same "publisher" that are of the same ilk. There is no new research or insight into the history of the cathedral. There are many good books out there that will satisfy the admirers and armchair historians. Take a pass on this one..
