The Novagard G661 is a 5.3 oz. tube of silicone grease compound that provides water resistance and resistance to most chemicals for use in applications such as lubricating valves and O-rings in small hydraulic piston assemblies. The compound is formulated with polydimethyl siloxane fluids with inert, amorphous silica fillers. The water and chemical resistance provide both lubricity and sealing properties. The compound has a temperature range of -40 to +400 degrees F (-40 to +204 degrees C). It meets Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 21 CFR section 178.3570 for incidental food contact. The compound is a translucent paste with a stiff, tacky consistency.
Industrial lubricants can be found in most machinery performing one or more functions, including reducing friction and wear, preventing components from adhering to each other, distributing loads more evenly, dispersing heat away from moving parts, and preventing corrosion. Although many materials are used as lubricants, the most common are oil (also called fluid lubricants) and grease because of their versatility. Oil lubricants contain either a petroleum or synthetic base, the properties of which are modified by the addition of various additives. Grease lubricants, a mixture of oil lubricant and a thickening agent, have a thicker consistency than oil, enabling use wherever liquids cannot be retained and requiring less frequent changes.
Novagard Solutions manufactures industrial adhesives, sealants, and lubricants. The company, founded in 1977, is headquartered in Cleveland, OH.

I'm happy to say it worked just as he said - it makes the faucet pull-out slide in and out without friction or wear. I'll reapply as needed, but it's slick enough to last a long time.
I can imagine a lot of other uses for this product - squeaky hinges, and rubber gaskets and seals that need lubrication. Rubber parts shouldn't have petroleum products like Vaseline or WD40 on them because it makes the rubber degrade - so this product would work well on toilet gaskets too. It's a little expensive, in my opinion, but I only used a nickel sized dab to do the entire faucet hose. And silicone doesn't expire for years, if ever, so one tube will last a lifetime.
It is safe around electrical and electronic parts. Does a good job of lubing the plastic gears and makes the garage door openers operate a little bit quieter too.
