I have "Now That's What I Call Christmas" Vol. 1, 2, & 3 (2 is not so great). I decided to buy Vol. 4 - MISTAKE. I like the old classic songs. Vol. 4 disc 2 is almost a complete compilation of songs from Vol 1, 2 & 3. If you have these already, do NOT bother to buy Vol. 4. What a dissapointment!

...cause that's what the people who compile these collections must have, since they keep including the same songs over and over again. Either that, or they're assuming the people who buy 4 never bought any of the others. To call out one of the other reviewers, Disc 1 is NOT all-new; both discs include songs that have been on volumes 1-3. And among the songs that actually are new (to this series, anyway), Lady Gaga's "Christmas Tree" must've been included just to get her name on there, because the song itself is terrible (it was an Amazon free download last December). By all means, this is a decent collection IF you don't already own the others, but strip all the repeated songs away and this easily could've been a single disc.

This two CD set of Christmastime songs and ballads impresses me--there's a lot of great talent and true blue genius her; and there's really not a dud in the entire lot! The first CD showcases the artistry of performers much more current than what we get on the second CD; and this makes for a nice balance especially if you don't yet have the songs on the second CD in your holiday music collection. Overall, the quality of the sound is very good and this is a solid installment in the "Now that's What I Call Christmas" CD series.

The first CD offers a lot to enjoy although of course I have my favorites as you will, too. It opens with Rihanna's powerful rendition of "A Child Is Born" and she never lets go of a superfluous note--Rihanna does this well and it makes a great starting number for this collection of songs. Sheryl Crow's "Merry Christmas Baby" is very well done; that music fits in perfectly with her vocals and I love every minute of it! Colbie Caillat does "Mistletoe" with panache and an excellent musical arrangement; and Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You" sounds beautiful and remarkably upbeat even several years after she initially released this song. Christina Aguilera does great justice to "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas;" her timing and phrasing makes this an especially good song that will be memorable without a doubt.

There are lots of nice additions to the contemporary pop canon of Christmas songs from recent years, right up to 2010, including Rihanna's reggae-influenced track "A Child is Born", Sheryl Crow's bright upbeat version of Merry Christmas Baby, Colbie Caillat's "Mistletoe", Darius Rucker's "Candy Cane Christmas", Kelly Rowland's take on "Wonderful Christmastime", and the totally hot "Christmas Tree" Lady GaGa.

There are also numerous repeats of songs that have been floating around for years by Mariah, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Faith Hill, Martina McBride, and Diana Krall.

And then we have plenty of `classics' by the likes of Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby, Elvis Presley, Andy Williams, Johnny Mathis, Dean Martin, Burl Ives, and more. Do we really need these on yet another compilation? Not really.

Take away the numerous repeats and this could have been trimmed down to one very hot unique collection of fresh songs. But considering it's the price of one disc essentially, it's not all that much of an issue.

These 2 discs will end up as coasters on my table after I download the few songs that are true Christmas standards or hits.. Whoever selected the tracks didn't spend a lot of time researching.. While all of the songs are by major artists, not all the songs are hits and shouldn't be here.

I am usually against buying the "NOW That's What I Call..." cd's because they usually have a few good ones but others you'd like to forget...just fads. However this CD was fantastic. The 2nd disc includes classics, but fresher and more varied than some other CD's I had, and I was pleased to see the one with David Bowie on there. CD 1 was full of surprises that I loved. Great selection of songs that hit all the aspects of Christmas, all different styles and definitely songs that I would have not come across being unwilling to by some of those artists complete Christmas albums. Fair warning I had not heard the Lady Gaga song before and (I shouldn't have been but) I was shocked. Not kid friendly. Otherwise the family will love it.

This is a nice album. There is only one song on it that I don't care for. Other than that its a great album. Its a nice album because it has various artists and you get a lot of nice music. I am glad I purchased it.

These two Christmas CD's provided wonderful variety for my holiday gatherings. They are a great mix of old favorites on one CD and popular contemporary artists on the other that added the right background music for these occasions.
