Now is our Time by Jo Kessel is a beautiful love story about what happens when the one that got away comes back into your life at the right time and under the right circumstances.

Thirteen years ago Jonah and Claire were head over heels for each other until circumstances drove them apart. Claire left him in the States still chasing his professional tennis player dreams and went back to England. She moved, changed her number, changed her email, basically hid herself. Despite the fact that they believed they were soulmates, they were done. They both moved on. They both got married. They both had children.

Now, they are both divorced, Jonah is back in England, and fate has stepped in and crossed their paths. They never stopped loving each other and while they cherish the children that came out of their broken marriages, they now understand exactly why their marriages didn't work. They were still in love with each other.

So what happens next? What is the next step in life with two eight year old daughters, one in the States and one in England? Where do you live? Where do you work? That was the beauty of this story - it wasn't just the two main characters falling back into each others arms, it was their struggle to succeed AFTER they reunited, it was the deep bond that the girls managed to forge with each other.

A deep and fulfilling romance that will leave you glowing and feeling warm and fuzzy inside.

Now is our Time is my first book that I read by Jo Kessel, and I loved it. A 5 STAR book rating. Jo really captivates her audience by allowing them to feel the emotions the characters are feeling. Her portrayal of the character's dialogue allows the reader to feel that they are in the present scene in the book. I could imagine myself present in each scene. It was easy to immerse myself into the reading.

Claire and Jonah were sweethearts at one time. Then one event separated them for thirteen years. An event that Claire went running from, and hurt for so many years. They never stopped thinking about each other, and each other's marriages never worked with the history that those two had.

Jonah is in London and sees Claire's best friend Georgia. Georgie passes on Claire's email address to Jonah, and he contacts her. One email, and Claire is sent back to the past. A past where love once shined. Can Claire cope with rehashing the past the Jonah represents? I don't know if I could if I was in her shoes. Jonah was the world's tennis sweetheart. A famous one especially with the females.

Claire fights with her past while spending time with Jonah, but she also has to contend with her ex-husband, Anthony. Anthony has another child with another woman, but he is jealous of Claire and her new beau. He is bound to ruin what the future may hold. And I really thought he was stalkerish. Anthony was just creepy and a selfish bastard in my eyes. He placed their daughter in a situation to be hurt. And that is not okay.

One of the reasons that I rated the book so high was that it was told in multiple point-of-views. We see what Anthony is thinking. We also see what the daughter has going on in her mind. That was my favorite.

Now Is Our Time is about true love and second chances. It was a really sweet story about two past lovers that fell apart and years later their paths cross again. Both are divorced with a child and have grown so much from their pasts. When they meet again though, it's as if they were never separated.

I loved watching their love bloom and all the steps they take to make it work this time. Claire starts off seeming weak and unsure but throughout the story she grows so much and becomes more confident and sure of herself. She has to learn to let go of the past in order to build a future. Claire's ex-husband throws a wrench in her life when he decides he wants more. Towards the middle of the book you start seeing his POV and although he's intentions seem reasonable at first, he becomes selfish and heads down a path that causes more friction and distance between him and his daughter.

Overall the story was good. There were times when I didn't have a hard time putting it down when I felt like it dragged a bit, but then it starts picking back up. The writing was done well and the story line was good also. I think this would make a great romance read, especially one that you could read with friends and discuss, book club or not ;-)

Second chances, we all deserve them, we all need them, we all crave them …

Jo Kessel’s novel Now Is Our Time will leave you with the power and beauty of second chances with this good book. Claire is a wonderfully written character whom I connected with right at the start of the novel and as a reader you want nothing but the best for her. When the chance for her to connect with her hot, ex-boyfriend who was/is a Tennis Powerhouse, you feel yourself rooting for Claire even more.

I also quite enjoy novels that do point of views from both of the male/female lead characters and Kessel doesn’t disappoint as she does dedicate a few chapters in the point of view of Jonah. Although they are mostly his feelings about Claire, it does give the reader a chance to see what he is thinking and feeling, and to me it’s always a bonus.

There are also a few flashbacks in the novel – which is always a delight in my opinion as it gives you a back story to what is going on in the characters lives now. Kessel uses these to her advanatage in writing a warningly, sweet novel.

Definitely add Now is Our Time to your To-Be-Read-Shelf.
