Comparing: Sennheiser HD600 headphones, Sennheiser CX300II earbuds, NuForce NE-650M earbuds.
First impression: it's staggering how different they all are.
Sennheiser CX300II ($56): by far the warmest, with the most mids. Highs very clear, bass well defined, but something is slightly off. The entire sound coloring feels a bit strange or distorted, almost muddy. Cord tangles infuriatingly easily.
NuForce NE-650M ($45): very clear, providing excellent, really wide soundstage. Less mid-range in exchange for the sharpness and slightly over-exaggerated bass (the most bass of the three), feeling a bit aloof or cold because of that. All in all, excellent choice for the price.
Sennheiser HD600 ($$$): as expected, nothing can touch these cans. The most any earbud can claim is not sucking completely in comparison, and these certainly stood the test, but unlike anything else, you just never want to take HD600s off.
Conclusion: NuForce is an excellent performer for the price. The only wish - a tiny bit less bass.
Unfortunately, a lot of these must have rolled off the manufacturing line with a crippling defect, the right or left earbud will go out fairly quickly, my right earbud started to crackle after only 2 days use and I babied them, able to get them to work sometimes by blasting the music momentarily and it would come back to life again, until I stopped listening to music for a few hours then when I wanted to use them again, had to repeat the same process, until one day the right earbud completely died and did not come back when I blasted the music. EDIT: I figured out that the earbuds themselves weren't the problem its the cable, near the headphone jack, the wire is very easily pulled apart. The earbuds' cable, although hard to tangle, gets caught on anything like door knobs and drawer knobs, they are made of a very grippy rubber, and grip they do, annoyingly well, to anything that's protruding from any surface you happen to brush up against when you're wearing them, usually resulting in them being ripped from your ears, disconnecting from the headphone jack and you dropping your ipod if you're holding it in your hands....
KEEP READING VERY IMPORTANT
Nuforce does allow you to create an account on their website and register your product, Its actually incredibly easy, and if you ordered these earbuds from amazon you use the order number that was created when you bought them, once you do I suggest submitting a ticket about the earbuds, from what I've read, these guys will get back to you and replace them. I just did it before writing this review. From what I've read their other model of earbuds haven't had this problem so its just a one time fluke.
Given how much i liked them, I picked up the NuForce 650M -- and they sounded fantastic. I took great care to place them in the case they came with (though, realistically, given the nature of these headphones -- i.e. portable -- it seems a bit unreasonable to expect perfection in bundling).
They lasted a month. I used them quite often at moderate volumes (even with the "safe headset volume" set on my phone) for about 3 hours a day on commute. So, that's more or less ~84 hours of playtime before they faulted. The sound has become scratchy and the various levels are poor. They're more or less unusable.
I would say that in comparison to the stock apple phones, the sound range and bass is much deeper. I have never tried a higher end pair of kliptsch or other top brand other than bose, but in ear phones I find that you can only get some much additional sound quality in such a small package. If you really want killer sound, you have to start moving into the regular and bulky style headphones.
Now the negative. I really take very good care of my stuff. I wrap my chords, don't rip at them, and never have dropped my ipod (believe it or not)! So when I had an issue with the sound crackling due to a wire loose in the phones after only a month, I was very surprised. The good news though also comes with good. I got my receipt from Amazon, and provided it to their returns department who was very quick and courteous to send me a completely new set. I don't know if I got a bad batch, but so far so good on the new ones. I will update my review after 6 months if I run into any more issues.Read more ›

Was disappoint that at this price level there is no volume control. The sound quality isn't that much better than the me-600m which is a great buy for as good as they sound.Published 16 months ago by TucRon
The product has a short in the cord at the 3.5 jack .
i would not order from this vendor again.
They sound really good for the price. Maybe I was to rough with them?..but after about three months the connection at the stress relief for the 3.5mm jack failed. Read morePublished on May 18, 2014 by William K. Shea

They sound pretty good when standing, but as soon as you start walking noise from cable movement transfers into earbuds at a loud annoying level. Read morePublished on February 3, 2014 by Robert D. Poling
Very excellent quality sound, deep bass AND captures the highs and clarity headphones of this price should have. Money well spent.Published on January 24, 2014 by Cyrus Walker
Product broke 2 months after purchase. Of course they were supposed to have a great quality but they weren't that good when brand new, will not purchase this brand again.Published on September 3, 2013 by JackieLSU
