Product worked for a month or so and then experienced a meltdown. Returned to NuGiant, under warranty, about 7 weeks ago. Have tried to contact NuGiant 4 times, to get an update and they are unresponsive. They don't seem to have a phone number and they do not respond to my emails.

Everyone seems to have covered the features on this thing so I'll just add my two cents by saying it works great! I'm disabled, and like to use a fan a lot. It's difficult (and annoying) to have to get up and down to turn the fan on and off. Now, I just reach over, grab the remote, DONE! Being that it uses RF, that feature came in real handy because the only place I could plug it into was behind some things. I was also pleasantly surprised at the build quality. When looking at it online it appeared to be really "light"..maybe cheaply made. It's actually pretty solid and well made. I highly recommend one (or more) of these if you have similar health issues, OR, just for the convenience in general. I'm loving this thing! (I wish I'd thought of it earlier!)

I bought this unit to turn on and off a lamp by my bedside that's hard to get to. I have a main room light that's powered by a light switch but for a few hours before I go to bed at night, I switch to the lamp by my bed. I thought about timers but I'm in my room at various times depending on the day. This remote controlled outlet is great for what I need. There are, however, two things missing that would've made this unit perfect.

First, this unit does not have an on/off switch on itself. It only has a "learning" button on the unit that helps it pair with other remotes. It is arguable that since it's a remote controlled device, a button on the outlet is unnecessary, but I found this to be not true. There are times when one might misplace the remote, or simply would like to turn off the unit without using the remote. The simple work around is to just unplug the power cable connected to this outlet, but an on/off button would be much easier than yanking out the power cable.

Second, this outlet unit is bulky. I understand there's a timer built in, but the device could use a little slimming down. It is boxy and about the size of a car radar detector.

Some would also point out there's only one outlet, but this is fine as you can connect a surge protector or multi-outlet adapter to this unit.

A few things you should know are:

-The unit makes a noticeable "click" noise to let you know it has been turned on or off, this is a good thing for me as it lets me know if various electrical devices connected are not working versus the remote control outlet itself not functioning.

I bought this along with a small reading lamp because I was always waking in the middle of the night with the lights on, having read myself to sleep. I know that a lit room is not as restful for sleeping as a dark one, so I determined to try to do something about it. This little timer will turn your lights off after an hour, or three, six, or nine hours. It works flawlessly. I now use this little remote to turn on the light and set a shutoff time as I'm getting ready for bed. I read myself to sleep and just set my Kindle down when I get sleepy, knowing the light will take care of itself.
To operate the remote, you turn on the light, and then click on one of the other four buttons, selecting how long you want the light to stay on. If you turn off the light and set the timer buttons, it will turn on the light at the right time -- handy if you have a reason to be up at night without fumbling for the light switch. I've been using this for several months and it works flawlessly.
There's a holder with a Velcro patch so you can mount the remote where it is most convenient for you. Mine is on a nightstand where I can easily reach it to turn the light on or off at will. It's a handy remote that works from anywhere in the room. The timer feature is an exceptional bonus.
For anyone just wanting a remote, I recommend the inexpensive sets that come with three adapters. I have those as well to manage other lights, a small heater, and my computer electronics -- but this one, with its timer, serves the additional purpose of shutting down after I go to sleep -- a really big deal at a very reasonable price.

I needed a way to remotely turn off my son's computer monitor, and this suits my needs exactly. Because only the monitor is plugged into this outlet, there is no data loss, but I can easily enforce computer time limits without a struggle. It simply turns off. I can even turn it off from the other room (open floor plan--not sure how it would work through walls, but it is effective in large, open spaces).

This item has other timer features I haven't yet tried, but will probably use in the future. So far, I'm very happy with this purchase!

Great idea for controlling the block heater on my diesel truck from inside the house. But...it only seems to work about 1 out of 5 times. Its not clear if its range problems or cold weather problems. But without some kind of feedback you cant just hit the button and assume its on. You cant even hit the 5 times and assume its on (or off). Sometimes it seems like I have to walk right up to it with the remote before it will switch. Other times it works from inside the house.
