I bought this Hearthware Home Products Nuwave Mini Infrared Oven - As Seen on TV
for my daughters birthday...I was so excited because I've wanted one for so long but the Pro family size.

So she was also excited she wanted to take out frozen chicken or frozen whatever and pop it into the oven and in how ever many minutes have a delicious cooked meal...she says that not only did it take longer to cook than the book says...but the chicken came out rubbery...

So I gave her a gift card and took the oven...today I cooked frozen pizza, bacon and a frozen sirloin burger. They did all take longer than the book stated. But they all came out tasting good..

I haven't tried frozen chicken breasts yet I will try that soon...what I don't like about the Mini oven is its oblong in shape...makes it impossible to cook any medium round items over 7.5 inches. You can't any use single size cake pans...so you're very limited on what size of items you can cook.

And the rack/tray sit pretty far from the heat source. I'm cooking a pork steak (not frozen) tomorrow and I'll better tomorrow if it browns and cooks the way it should...I'm thinking that I need to find a way to elevate the rack to get a good brown on top before the meat is over cooked but I'll let you know how it goes...

04/26/11 Added comments...so today I got excited about trying something frozen...so I took out a chicken thigh w/skin and rinsed off the layer of frozen water..patted it dry and put my spices on...then I popped it into the oven for 10 mins and after the 10 was up I noticed that it just wasn't browning/crisping up the way I wanted it so I didn't want to turn it over and find out it never did crisp/brown.

So I elevated the rack by placing a bowl under the rack(2.

I purchased the large Nuwave pro and loved it so much I ordered the mini also. Both are fantastic! My husband laughed at me when I ordered the first one, but he was also very impressed with the way it cooked after the first meal. The mini is perfect for veggies or smaller meats. I am into cooking healthy and the amount of fat that is removed from meats is great. I think the mini will be used more than the Nuwave Pro because it is much easier to clean than the Pro is only because of the size. I was surprised at how easy the racks are to clean. No scrubbing needed, but I have found that cleaning racks on other appliances in the dishwasher damages the finish and makes them harder to clean so these won't be cleaned in the dishwasher.
The cooking times given are just a starting point. I have also found that it takes quite a bit longer to cook than the recommended times. I was aware of this from the reviews I read before I ordered them so if speed is the reason you are considering ordering one...forget it. For health benifits and quality of cooking they are great! I must say that these are my new favorite kitchen items and will be used a lot unlike many that have come and gone in the past.

The mini Nu Wave arrived in perfect condition, in a timely manner. I have had the regular Nu Wave, which was fine, except soooo big on my counter space. So, thought I would try the small one. Now, I think this is just fine for 1 person, not two. You need to have small plates to fit into the oven. I use the small corning ware bowls. A little slower cooking than my big one, but much more adaptable to my needs.

I ordered the NuWave mini when I ordered my NuWave Pro since it was free and only paid $30 shipping through the manufacturer site. Initially, I was thinking it would be a good gift for someone since I now have the Pro....but....I'm liking the Mini more when it's just me at home cooking a quick dinner.

First, I find the $90+ price to be way over the top. I'd find $39-$49 acceptable. Price isn't an indicator of quality, but an indicator of what you can/can't use it for. Funny enough you can buy the parts separately for ~$70.

Secondly, make sure you keep the recommended cooking chart handy. I'm finding on average to add ~2 minutes per side to the cooking instructions. My first frozen boneless skinless chicken thigh came out still pinkish in the middle. Adding 2 minutes more per side did the trick the next night. The chicken was moist, done, and tasty.

The electronic keypad seems durable and the timer is loud enough to be heard in another room. Good thing is, when the timer alerts, the NuWave turns off. No danger of overcooking this way.

The dome seems to be sturdy enough, but I'm hoping if my dome cracks, it does so while in the first year. If not, it's a measely $12 to replace.

The rack can be flipped to get food closer to the heating element or further away by a margin of about an inch. Not much difference.

The Mini is is ideal for 1-2 people. I can fit two chicken pieces or two medium steaks, or two fish fillets. On the cooking videos, Chef Jennifer fills in around the meat with veggies. I would eat more veggies than can fit on the rack with 2 pieces of meat. Thus, why it's a mini. But it cooks them well with a little adjustment on cooking times. I always start frozen and it cooks very well.
