Product Description

Product Packaging: Standard Packaging

The NuForce NE-770X features design principles similar to those of the highly acclaimed NE-700, but with a somewhat different personality. The NE-770X wide-range, non-metallic drivers have been configured to produce a natural, supremely musical sonic signature without sacrificing dynamic punch, soundstage dimension, holographic imaging, or wide-band frequency response. The NE-770X polycarbonate body is acoustically inert and comfortably lightweight.

Nuforce produces the best earphones for the price range. You have to try them to convince yourself they are worth more than what you paid for. I have purchased many different expensive ones from renowned manufacturers and keep coming back to my nuforce. That's how good they are.

I was hoping because of the 770 model number that these would be better than my NE-700s and while they are cheaper they are certainly not better. Maybe the old adage you get what you pay for is at play. I've had the NE-700s for awhile now and in general I like them. They are a bit bass heavy and the mids are not clear as they could be but they are smooth and warm. The 770 in comparison have a more accurate bass response and more forward mids and highs but they are not as smooth or warm as the 700. I broke them in for about a day, didn't seem to make much difference.

The biggest problem with cheap headphones is that the mids and highs often sound brittle and artificial. Difficult to find an earphone with smooth mids and highs. The NE-700 while not the most accurate earphones out there does have a smooth, warm sound that is difficult to find in other earphones. So, my recommendation remains the NE-700 for now.

I have the NuForce NE-700x which I absolutely love. They are my go to headphones for all occasions. When our daughter was in need for some new headphones, my first thought was to find a nice pair of NuForce. I saw these and the price was exactly where it needed to be for a 12 year old girl. They weren't overly expensive, so we felt comfortable getting these for her. She loved them. They sounded good... not great, but they are (were) nice little headphones that sounded reasonable well for the price. Only problem is, they lasted about 2 weeks before shorting out. Now I don't know if it is the fault of the headphones or the fact that she constantly wrapped them around her iPod Touch which I told her not to do, but regardless, I expected better out of NuForce. I've had mine for over a year and not a single problem out of mine. I keep mine rolled up in my old Sony earbuds case when not in use, so perhaps taking better care of the 770x, they might have lasted longer. We have since gotten her a cheap pair on the black Friday deals for $6 so if she screws those up, we won't feel at such a loss.

I do love everything I have purchased from NuForce, but these didn't feel as solid as other items from them. Perhaps that's why they are in the $30 range.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: For those of you familiar with NuForce earphones, the NE-770X are a less expensive/plastic version of the NE-700X. In my experience, they are a little more forward in the mids with a little less shimmer in the highs when compared to their more expensive siblings. The bass is about the same, which is to say that it is tight, solid, and does not overpower the other frequencies. Overall, they sound very good and are reasonably priced. Those of you looking for a lower-cost alternative to the NE-700X should give these a try.

EDIT: My original review was 4 stars. I've dropped it to 3. After about two months, my NE-770X died. NuForce quickly replaced them under warranty, so their service is still good. But I had the same problem with durability with the older NE-6 and the NE-700X. They died after a few months and I had to have them replaced. I am not confident that the replacement set will last very long. Also, and this is the big problem, the replacement set doesn't sound as good as the originals. They are lacking clarity and sparkle in the highs. My original set was good (although not as good as the NE-700X), but these are just OK. It would seem that there is some variation from set to set, and I'm rather disappointed.

As of right now, I would say that buyers should avoid the NE-770X. You can do better for the money, especially given the durability issues and if there is inconsistency in sound from each set. Try to find the old NE-700X instead, or try a different brand. That's what I will do when my current headphones die.

I've owned and given to family members 7 pairs of various models of Nuforce earphones.

I see the reviews with complaints on an earpiece not working, etc.

I've never had trouble with any of the Nuforce headphones until just now which happened after dropping my phone while holding it. After the cord saved my phone from hitting the ground (thank you!) the pull/snap on the cord caused one earpiece to go out. I'll send to Nuforce for repair. One of the other reviews mentions these don't stand up to rough use. High-quality stuff is usually more delicate. If you like good sound use the supplied pouch to carry your earphones and don't tug or bind the cords.

My current nuforce (700x) going out (due to phone drop) caused me to pickup two of these models. I was tickled they were so inexpensive.

I've had the 2 pairs for a week and used both of them. Neither has any problems. And they sound great.

Not as good, overall, as the 700x but these cost less than 1/3 of the price. In some areas they actually sound a little better than the 700x.

YOU HAVE TO LET THESE (ALL NUFORCE EARPHONES) BURN IN FOR AT LEAST A FEW HOURS FOR BEST SOUND.

Put you music player on shuffle and let it play at about 3/4 volume for a few hours.

These are the best earphones I have come across at this price range by a wide margin.

Highly recommended!
