This is one of those plots where you think you know where it's going, then it doesn't go there. So you adjust your expectations, and again, it doesn't go the way you think it will. Kept me guessing right up to the end. What a story!
What makes this particular thriller so compelling is the human-ness that Carrey brings to his character. Fast paced violent action with heavy sound punctuating every scene is not enough. There has to be a believable, compelling, evoking emotions that only someone like Carrey can bring to a story. I'm not sure why this film did not receive rave reviews across the globe. My only complaint was the sexual content because frankly, I'm tired of sexual content every time I turn around.
I'm reviewing the product itself. The box came broken, Though luckily the dvd wasn't. I played the film, And the quality is pretty good. I'm used to Blu-ray now, So I can see a definite difference now. But I think it adds to the quality of the film. Also, Unrated just seems to add more time to the film, Making the play a bit too slow, So I'm watching it in theatrical version from now on. Since the case is broken, I'm putting it into a storage container instead. I'm taking a star off for the broken box.
But I'd give it five stars for the movie alone. The movie should be called, How I became obsessed with the number twenty three.
